[Silent Suzuka cosplay] The quiet runner in Umamusume: Pretty Derby

For this Umamusume cosplay of Silent Suzuka, from preparation to completion, I'd like to share some behind-the-scenes details. Suzuka's iconic orange-red hair and blunt bangs look simple, but to make them look natural and not stiff, I intentionally thinned out the ends of the wig while preserving layers, making it look airier rather than like a heavy helmet. In terms of makeup, blue contact lenses are the soul, paired with pink blush and orange-based eye makeup. Slightly deepening the outer corners of the eyes helps create that slightly aloof yet pure gaze of hers. For the costume, the pairing of green and white is very refreshing; the golden trim on the chest and the cyan bow on the right are the finishing touches, and the purple gloves are also a key detail in restoring the character's design. To restore the cut of this outfit, I specially adjusted the puffiness of the cuffs and the stiffness of the neckline to ensure a three-dimensional silhouette in front of the lens.

In terms of poses, I used my gloved fingers to gently press against my chin, an action expressing Suzuka thinking or feeling the direction of the wind, carrying a slightly detached yet elegant temperament. Why do I like Silent Suzuka? Because she is pure, wanting only to run ahead. In the world of Umamusume, she possesses a unique charm. Cosplaying this character is not just about putting on clothes, but stepping into her mindset. During the shoot, I barely smiled, maintaining a calm state, trying to ignore the surrounding clutter, imagining myself right on the track and feeling that focus.

As everyone knows, cosplaying the Umamusume series tests costume accuracy significantly. This green uniform looks simple, but the cut is actually very crucial. The puffiness of the sleeves and the waist-cinching design must be just right, otherwise, it will look bulky. I even added support to the waist and neckline to ensure smooth lines during shooting. Wig care is also very important; this bright orange color easily makes skin look dark or yellow, so the choice of foundation needs to be a bit fairer, while utilizing the contrast of warm and cool lighting to highlight the clarity of the blue eyes. The color diameter of the contact lenses was also chosen to be relatively natural, avoiding a hollow look in the eyes and striving to match the proportions of the original design.

It was very windy on the day of the shoot, which posed a challenge for the wig, but unexpectedly matched the setup of Suzuka running against the wind on the racetrack. I seized the moment when the wind blew up my hair and tried to make my gaze resolute. Someone once asked me if it's hard to showcase the character's traits without running and just standing for photos. Actually, no; Suzuka's charm lies not only in running, but also in her focus, undisturbed by the outside world. Therefore, when striking poses, although my body remained static, my mindset was ready to sprint out at any moment. A lot of thought went into this set of photos from preparation to shooting, and I hope to present the best Silent Suzuka.
