[Klee Cosplay & Alice cosplay] Genshin Impact: Parent-Child Moment in Mondstadt's Windmill Town

This time, we brought the cosplay looks of Klee and Alice—the vibrant mother-daughter duo from Genshin Impact—into reality, choosing an outdoor location in a windmill town steeped in European fairy-tale charm. The bright sunny weather paired with medieval European timber-framed architecture mirrored the atmosphere of Mondstadt in the game perfectly. Accompanied by green leaves gently falling through the frame and white doves flying past, the entire photo set radiated vitality and dynamic grace.

Regarding makeup, styling, and costumes, we devoted a great deal of effort to recreating the key visual traits of both characters. Starting with Klee, alongside her signature pink short wig and playful ahoge, we meticulously crafted the red and black short jacket with white lace collar details. The golden clovers on the coat and the edge piping were achieved through embroidery and patchwork techniques, which, combined with gloves and brown boots, instantly gave her look rich dimensionality and layering. Her fluffy white mini skirt, paired with adorable poses, perfectly captured the character's lively and energetic nature.

Alice's styling was considerably more complex. Her silver-white hair is remarkably long and dense; to prevent it from looking messy, we built a hidden shaping mesh inside the wig so it retained bounce and fluffiness even when wind blew during the outdoor shoot. The hollowed-out metallic halo headpiece atop her head was a major engineering task, requiring a secure fit while avoiding unnatural reflections that could break immersion. The outfit features abundant red gilded patterns and white lace at the collar, complemented by a flowing red-and-blue hem that delivers immense visual impact. Not to mention the white over-the-knee stockings paired with high-heeled platform shoes, which elongated her leg proportions while vastly adding elegance and splendor to her silhouette.

To capture the best dynamic effects, we repeatedly adjusted our positioning on the stone steps and cobblestone paths. Klee struck a pose with knees slightly bent and arms outstretched as if preparing to dash forward, while Alice stood sideways, raising her right hand high to wave toward the camera or the distance. A gentle breeze happened to blow by during the shoot, lifting Alice's skirt, ribbons, and long hair into a natural, powerful drape. Coupled with perfect lighting angles, we caught a cinematic frame resembling in-game CG quality.

Among the four photos presented, I particularly love the iconic giant white windmill in the background, which creates a wonderful color harmony with the cyan coat-of-arms flag hanging on the right pillar. The blurred white flowers in the foreground were a pleasant surprise, keeping the frame from looking crowded despite the architectural backdrop. To convey this sunny and dreamlike mood, post-processing focused on softening highlights and smoothing shadow transitions, keeping skin texture looking translucent and natural while preserving the physical fabric grain. The Elf ears cosplay prosthetics were specially selected in skin-matching, non-reflective materials so they appeared entirely natural from both side and front camera angles.

The charm of cosplay photoshoot shares lies in bringing virtual characters into real-world settings, bestowing them with new vitality through real texture, light, and shadow. From costume prep and makeup tests to site scouting and the actual shoot, every step of this process was packed with fun. Completing this duo outdoor photoshoot with my cosplay partner in such a picturesque windmill town was an unforgettable experience. Rather than heavily relying on special effects, this set aims to showcase the bright, carefree atmosphere of Genshin Impact's world through authentic natural light and physical scenery. We hope these photos make fans of these characters feel as though they truly exist within this enchanting fairy-tale town.
