[Furina cosplay] Governing Fontaine in the Stature of Hydro Archon: Convention Photos Share

The Convention photos of Furina governing Fontaine in the stature of the Hydro Archon are finally ready! Recreating this character with intricate details myself (CN Achen), I felt the challenge of this costume, makeup, and props early during the preparation stage.

Let's start with the hair and makeup. To match the character's temperament, I chose a white curly wig with a light blue gradient highlight, especially those few flipped-up hair strands, which required repeated adjustments with setting spray to keep from collapsing all day. For eye makeup, ice-blue contact lenses paired with crisp eyeliner slightly brightened the inner corners of the eyes, making the gaze appear ethereal and charming. For base makeup, I chose a fair, matte texture, paired with lip color that subtly highlights complexion, striving for an overall clean look so as not to steal the color focus from the costume itself.

Outfit detail fidelity is something I particularly value. This royal blue coat uses fabric with good luster, spliced with a white lining, while the deep blue pleated bow tie at the neckline adds depth. Golden buttons and the star-shaped blue gem accessory on the chest make the whole outfit sparkle under lights. Because the tailoring is slim-fit, maintaining good posture while walking around the venue was essential to avoid looking bulky. The white shorts on the lower half paired with straps and golden tassels form a very dynamic decoration on the side of the thigh; the tassels sway gently when walking, which is a great visual bonus.

Props were another focus of this shoot. This blue-and-white gradient longsword prop has quite a bit of weight, and the golden crescent decoration and blue gem on the hilt have great texture. During shooting, I had to deliberately look for suitable angles to prevent the sword from blocking costume prints or chest accessories. Many times I needed to lean against a chair back or hold the sword with one hand to adjust my center of gravity, maintaining an elegant sword-holding stance.

As these are Convention photos, lighting on location was rather complex, with overhead linear lights and crowds causing interference during shooting. However, the photographer set up the lighting wonderfully, using strong lights to darken the background, brightening the rich royal blue of the costume and creating a high-contrast cool-toned atmosphere. When shooting seated poses, I intentionally adjusted my leg placement angle to fully display my platform shoes and white lace socks, stretching leg lines while making the seated pose look more relaxed and natural. Spotting locations and capturing snapshots from multiple angles also gave me more opportunities to ponder the character's emotions upon entering the stage.

Temperatures were high on the day of the convention, and the indoor venue was stuffy with heavy foot traffic, making wearing such multi-layered and heavy attire quite physically demanding. However, hearing fans call out the character's name or photographers noting how faithful the outfit was made all the sweat completely worth it. These convention photos are not merely a replica of the character's appearance, but also a test of patience for styling and physical stamina on site. While organizing photos, I noticed that a few minor accessory positions shifted during movement; if I have the chance to cosplay this character again, I'll optimize fastening details further.

All in all, this convention photoshoot experience was truly fantastic, serving as a test of my character recreation capabilities.
