Sharing my shoot reflections on Megumi Kato's summer uniform from Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend! To celebrate Megumi's birthday, I set out to produce a summer uniform set I could truly be proud of. What made this session unique was that the photos were practically straight-out-of-camera. Because my facial structure has never felt especially photogenic, I typically depend heavily on post-processing to fine-tune angles or expressions. Yet the photographer's lighting direction and creative approach bypassed my insecurities entirely, capturing candid moments far more organic than my rehearsed poses.

Megumi's summer attire centers on a white Sailor suit shirt, navy pinafore dress, white beret, and Black over-the-knee socks. The tailored fabric offered great natural drape, and I refined the wig's layering to keep the crown light and airy. Setting the shoot in a Classroom scene felt essential, as classrooms define her daily rhythm. Sunlight streaming through sheer white window drapes created a luminous, clean diffused glow faithful to the anime's slice-of-life atmosphere. Shallow depth of field drew focus to subtle eye contact while gently blurring desks and chairs.

Props included a matching Megumi plushie and a TOEIC workbook. Resting the book on desks or holding it close balanced compositions while echoing study scenes, and interacting with the plushie eased camera tension. Perching along the desk edge with naturally crossed legs paired Black over-the-knee socks with schoolgirl innocence, beautifully elongating proportions for the cover frame. Rather than forcing dramatic poses, I maintained relaxed, understated gazes and distant window stares to capture Megumi's serene, unassuming essence—honoring her spirit on her birthday with authentic fidelity.
