This nun-themed photoset from the Wulingding Image Club event is finally out. In terms of lighting, utilizing Yongnuo's fixtures to coordinate with the venue's own ambient light source resulted in textures and layering that are more solid than expected. The theme of this shoot leans towards the contrast between darkness and holiness, where the white grand piano and a large number of crystal candelabra props in the venue helped construct a strong sense of narrative.

Let's talk about the costume details first. The veil has a deep blue-to-black velvet texture, and the white edges along with the silver metallic bowknot accessories keep the entire headpiece from looking monotonous. The high-collared inner wear features a lace-up design, paired with a crucifix necklace on the chest and a wide-sleeved robe with red, black, and gold borders, making the overall design highly ritualistic. Meanwhile, the lower body is paired with white stockings, preserving the original solemnity of the nun robe while adding a touch of playfulness. The purple eyes and red lips in the makeup serve as the visual focus of the entire face. Paired with light blonde bangs, they look very soft under the scattering of indoor natural light and white gauze curtains.

The prop used during the shoot was a replica skull, which creates a taboo and mysterious aesthetic when placed alongside the nun costume. The light from those crystal candelabras in the studio is a warm yellow, perfectly balancing the large areas of cool white and deep blue in the frame. The spatial feel of the shooting venue, Wulingding Image Club, is excellent. Besides the primary piano area, the nearby Roman columns and gauze curtains also provided room for changing camera angles during this Studio scene shooting.

I repeatedly confirmed the composition with the photographer. Because there were too many elements in the foreground and background, the frame would easily look cluttered when the lens got close. Later, we used some foreground blurring techniques, letting the crystal lamps and black tulle act as foreground obstructions, which instead provided more depth. To ensure the quality of the final photos, we re-examined the lighting ratio every time we changed an angle. The texture of the red-and-black color blocking easily distorts once overexposed, but with the assistance of the Yongnuo lighting setup, this part was controlled quite steadily.

The range of motion during the shoot couldn't be too large because I needed to maintain the restrained and elegant body language of a nun, mostly keeping hands clasped in prayer, sitting quietly, or holding up the props. Of course, there were moments midway where props reflected light or the white gauze blocked the lens, but adjusting the position and re-shooting always found the right feeling. Being able to shoot my favorite theme at the event this time was inseparable from the hardware support provided by the venue and the photographer's grasp of composition and color grading for this Portrait photography piece. The texture and colors in the final photos basically reconstructed that cold, elegant, yet darkly vibrant atmosphere in my imagination. Overall, it's a highly memorable set of photos for this Roleplay project.
