[Chang'e Cosplay] Frost-Resistant Thoughts: A Promise Against the Frost, Regardless of Return Date

Bringing this Chang'e Frost-Resistant Thoughts cosplay from Honor of Kings to life took quite a bit of effort from initial prep to the official shoot. For the long pink hair and animal ears setup, I adjusted the flow and hair texture multiple times; trimming and styling the wig took nearly four hours to achieve that soft, fluffy, and voluminous feel. I have to give special praise to the fabric quality—the main white fabric of the top uses a satin material with a subtle matte sheen and fantastic drape, with hand-stitched frog buttons on the chest and waist. My favorite piece is the white faux-fur shawl: the fur volume is rich, creating a cozy, warm texture under indoor lighting that adds incredible ambiance in photos. The petal-shaped golden pauldrons feature embossed relief textures; though somewhat heavy, resting securely on the shoulders, they perfectly support the upper body's silhouette. The translucent pink gauze sleeves on the arms were custom-made from sheer light-transmitting mesh. When moving slightly, they flutter gracefully, creating stunning dynamic action captures that align seamlessly with the lightweight theme of \"Frost-Resistant Thoughts.\"

The shooting set was a classical Chinese room with wooden lattice panels. Although the plum blossom branches in the background were artificial, their staggered arrangement against the dark wooden backdrop easily evoked the poetic atmosphere of night-blooming winter plums. We specifically prepared a square wooden paper lantern with a warm LED light inside; placing it at various positions during the shoot served as both a prop and a fill-light source. In the close-up shot resting against the lantern in Figure 3, the light source struck from the side, creating a natural transition between facial shadows and hair highlights. Resting with my eyes closed during a break accidentally yielded a remarkably serene shot. Beyond the lantern, the floating white rabbit prop in the frame was a small mechanism suspended by a thin thread, which was edited out in post-production to make it appear as though it were truly floating in mid-air. The billowing pink gauze wrapping around in Figures 1 and 2 was actually a large veil; supported at one corner with a stand, an assistant gently shook it off-camera to create a rolling, fluid wave effect. In post-processing, we avoided sweeping color overhauls, retaining the raw pink-and-white tonal palette while locally enhancing dreamy highlight glows and adding fine light particle effects to keep the frame vibrant.

The biggest challenge with this look was managing the extra-long sleeves. When standing, I had to stay constantly mindful that the mesh wouldn't obscure hand gestures, while seated poses required finding the right leg angles to highlight leg contours without looking stiff. For the seated pose in Figure 1, I deliberately extended my right leg forward while bending the left leg, lengthening lower-body proportions while letting the gauze drape naturally at the ankles to expose the white leg covers and instep, ensuring the composition felt light and unpressed. Many cosplayers attempting Traditional style cosplay risk becoming a shape-less \"big robe\" where limbs disappear entirely. Thus, I consciously incorporated hand and leg lines into pose designs to convey the character's intrinsic elegance. For makeup, I applied low-saturation pink-purple eyeshadow with a subtly winged-up eyeliner and pale lip shade, paired with light-colored contact lenses for a clean, luminous finish aligned with the cool yet gentle temperament of Frost-Resistant Thoughts.

Temperatures were quite low on shoot day, and spending half a day indoors in such light clothing tested my endurance. Assistants placed body warmers inside the costume lining, though my legs and feet still turned red from the cold—yet seeing the final output made every moment worth it. Post-production primarily focused on skin retouching and removing clutter; shadows across the wooden lattices and gauze edges were refined meticulously without over-smoothing, preserving realistic skin texture for a natural look. Overall, this project took over two weeks from initial planning to final image output, with prop coordination and ambient lighting control requiring the most exertion. Achieving this series makes me feel every bit of effort was justified. I look forward to challenging more diverse Traditional Chinese style cosplay concepts in the future.
