Putting on this blue and white maid outfit cosplay, I feel like my whole body has become much lighter. To recreate Chii's soft and ethereal temperament, I chose a pale gold long straight wig. The curves of the front bangs and sideburns were adjusted several times to achieve this natural, airy feel. The white ruffles on the headpiece and her iconic pink ear apparatus are the finishing touches. Paired with the off-the-shoulder bubble sleeve design, it preserves her mechanical essence as a persocom while blending in the cute elements of a maid outfit. The criss-cross lacing at the waist was actually made with great care, with over a dozen securing points in total across the front and back, neatly cinching the waistline without hindering any movement.
During the shoot, I intentionally chose a clean blue backdrop to complement the refreshing color palette of the costume. The first pose with the basket was meant to create a warm, everyday atmosphere of delivering a fruit basket. The fruit props inside were carefully handpicked, and even the texture of the bread was finely detailed to bring more life into the frame. For the next two photos, I tried standing and sitting poses. For the standing one, I deliberately let the skirt hem fly up, taking many shots before catching the most natural dynamic movement. The white socks paired with dark blue Mary Janes perfectly echo the dark blue trim on the skirt hem.
The fabric of the entire costume is a slightly stiff cotton blend, and the ruffles of the skirt hem are very fluffy, holding a beautiful curvature even without a petticoat. In terms of makeup, I focused heavily on emphasizing the roundness of the eyes, using pink-orange eyeshadow to make my gaze look more innocent, which, together with the light lip makeup, reinforced the character's worldly naivety. Honestly, what I enjoy most about doing cosplay is this process of bringing everything to life bit by bitβfrom the wig and makeup to the costume and props. When every tiny detail falls into place, the photos turn out just right. This studio shooting session lasted four hours, and although it was exhausting, seeing the clean and dreamy quality of the final photos makes me feel that everything was completely worth it.
