Yuuta was right—the Wicked Lord Shingan is absolute truth! That is why I had to do complete justice to Takanashi Rikka's iconic look from Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. Starting with hair and makeup: the deep purple twintail wig was accented with the small yellow ribbon on top, while the signature eye details were recreated using a vivid green contact lens and a white gauze eyepatch. I adjusted the eyepatch placement several times to ensure a snug fit around the eye socket without obstructing visibility during shooting.
For the outfit, I wore the signature yellow knit vest paired with the red plaid pleated skirt, completed by the oversized red ribbon at the collar which brightened the entire face. On my legs were snug black over-the-knee stockings with just the right level of sheer translucency under indoor lighting to flatter and elongate leg contours. The white arm warmer sleeve detail was carefully preserved, executing deliberate fingertip poses to channel the character's signature chunibyo flair.
The beauty of taking a mirror selfie lies in having direct control over framing. For Photo 1, I chose a seated chair pose; angling the legs apart naturally extended perceived leg length while projecting an innate tsundere attitude. Setting up a fill light on the left side illuminated the legs and skirt hem, bringing out the crisp texture of the red plaid while highlighting the soft sheen of the black stockings. The standing pose showcased the skirt's tailoring, where the white lace trim balanced overall body proportions during movement and still stances.
The hardest part of portraying this character is sustaining that blend of chunibyo theatricality and proud tsundere expressions—keeping eye focus sharp while executing arcane hand signs before a mirror. While the headwear was lightweight, holding steady neck posture with a tucked chin required continuous muscle control. Modest color grading balanced warm and cool tones to honor the anime aesthetic, letting the skirt, legs, and red bow shine as clear visual focal points.
