Jan 19 Putian Lianchuang Overpass | Takanashi Rikka Cosplay | On-Location TFP Shoot—these retouched frames are finally ready to share. The choice to shoot on this pedestrian bridge was primarily driven by the stark contrast between the city's concrete-and-steel backdrop and this gothic purple dress, capturing that poignant tension between 2D fantasy and 3D reality that mirrors the original anime's theme of chunibyo delusions clashing with real-world gravity.

To capture Rikka's boundless, kinetic energy, I poured considerable thought into posing choreography. Standing still for stiff poses wouldn't do; I needed to run, leap, and twirl so the skirt could arc with dynamic fluidity. This purple dress features multi-tiered construction—a dark outer capelet layered over a pale lavender tiered ruffle skirt, which looks breathtaking in mid-spin. Achieving that full, billowing bloom required intense core and waist engagement; it took several trials to find the exact pivot point where the fabric expanded completely without throwing me off balance.

For hair and makeup, the purple short bob was trimmed with clean bangs and textured sidelocks, complemented by a white medical eyepatch over the right eye to highlight the Wicked Eye. Harsh outdoor sunlight tends to make synthetic wig fibers look frizzy, so I applied generous amounts of styling freeze spray. A quick tip for anyone shooting outdoors in strong sun: opt for matte-finish wig fibers whenever possible, as high-gloss strands produce noticeable, distracting glare under direct rays.

Regarding the outfit coordination, knee-high black stockings paired with brown leather dress shoes formed a quintessential schoolgirl look. During shooting, the photographer intentionally lowered the camera angle, employing low-angle upward framing and eye-level shots to visually lengthen leg lines and grant a taller, more slender silhouette. Simultaneously, as the skirt flared upward, the black stockings and delicate white trim accents were captured in crisp clarity.

For props, I brought along a ruffled black parasol edged in pink frills. This parasol not only heightened the character's theatrical mystique, but also doubled as a handy sunshade against blinding glare. We captured plenty of umbrella poses—such as holding it single-handedly while glancing back over my shoulder, or raising it high overhead. Winds were rather fierce atop the overpass; the gusting breeze whipping the skirt paired with parasol gestures infused the frames with lively motion, though it severely tested expression management and anticipating wind directions.

This was a collaborative TFP (time-for-print) session, and my chemistry with the photographer was seamless. The greatest advantage of collaborative non-commercial shoots is the freedom from commercial pressure, leaving ample room for experimentation and improvisation. Nuances like balancing on one leg while flashing a peace sign or resting hands on hips were adjusted organically on-site. Although overcoming social anxiety to strike dramatic chunibyo poses in front of curious pedestrian crowds was daunting at first, channeling the character's unyielding spirit of disregarding outside judgment quickly locked me into character. This collection stands as one of my absolute favorite recent outdoor works—authentic sunshine, natural breezes, and heartfelt styling coming together in perfect harmony.
