[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo Day 2: Languid Outdoor School Campus Daily Life

The convention photos from Day 2 of the 35th Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo are finally organized! This time, I cosplayed Takanashi Hoshino from Blue Archive. Because the weather on Day 2 turned out much better than expected without heavy downpours, we were able to move classroom desks and chairs onto an outdoor pathway for shooting; the background greenery felt far more open and breathable than simple indoor convention booths.

In terms of equipment, the major prop was this shotgun-like long firearm—a white body paired with a black barrel and orange ammo magazine, possessing solid physical heft in hand. The glowing halo above my head was the soul of this look; I specifically selected a soft pink illumination to echo the hair color. The wig was styled in light pink, with the length of the bangs and the positioning of the ahoge (cowlick) carefully adjusted, striving to recreate that lazy yet dependable charm of Takanashi Hoshino cosplay.

To match the School uniform aesthetic, the ensemble consisted of a white shirt paired with a cyan-blue tie, overlaid with black leather suspenders/harness straps, and a dark gray plaid pleated skirt below. I must also highlight the matching black fingerless gloves, which made handling the prop gun much easier. For footwear, I wore black-and-white high-top canvas sneakers paired with white mid-calf socks for a crisp White stockings styling effect, visually elongating leg lines while fitting right into a casual daily commute look.

Throughout the shoot, we explored several different compositions: from resting my chin on my hands in thoughtful languor at the school desk, to crossing my legs while looking directly into the lens with one hand on my cheek. I was particularly thrilled with using the classroom desk as a prop: whether resting my feet on the desk edge in a relaxed pose, or sitting close to the chair cradling the long rifle, both perfectly captured the character's complex personality—a bit decadent yet thoroughly reliable. The photographer, @八次方根, was exceptionally skilled at capturing natural lighting; the ambient outdoor light hitting the white shirt and pink strands produced soft, beautiful highlights.

The crowd at the Guangzhou convention was immense, especially over the weekend, making it genuinely challenging to locate such a relatively quiet outdoor spot at the Firefly ACG Expo. The temperature on Day 2 was on the higher side, and wearing a long-sleeved shirt in humid, sweltering weather was certainly an endurance test. The wig clinging to my neck easily caused sweating, but the final finished photos proved that every bit of effort was worth it.

I alternated how I held the prop gun—from cradling it across my chest to letting it hang casually toward the ground, or even flipping it upside down like a walking cane—using shifting postures to showcase the character's demeanor across different states. The lore of Blue Archive features numerous School uniform and campus elements, and Hoshino's unique balance of being watchful yet thoroughly relaxed was captured to near perfection through this outdoor setting steeped in everyday realism.

I really love the vibe of setting classroom desks and chairs on an outdoor concrete path—it feels just like an afternoon after class, with traffic passing by and yellowish-green shrubs creating natural bokeh in the background. The theme this time was not combat, but daily life. Thus, my gaze was not deliberately fierce, preserving the natural clarity of the heterochromatic eyes so I looked more like a student who hadn't fully woken up.

Thank you to the organizers of the Firefly ACG Expo venue, and a big thank you to the surrounding crowd for keeping the background clear during our shoot. Outdoor photography inherently comes with more variables than studio shoots—such as onlookers or bug bites—but that is all part of the convention photo journey. From makeup and hair to photography and post-processing synergy, this set of Takanashi Hoshino cosplay left me deeply satisfied.
