Completing this young-version Lynette Cosplay from Genshin Impact this time, I chose a relatively simple indoor studio setting, focusing on character recreation and presenting the specific temperament of that period.
For makeup design, to fit the young character setting, I softened the 3D contouring shadows on the face, using a foundation close to my natural skin tone to keep the skin looking translucent. For eye makeup, light blue contact lenses served as the visual centerpiece, paired with very light golden-brown eyeshadow across the lids without intentionally pulling out the outer corners. Instead, a little fine shimmer was swept on the aegyosal below the eyes, giving the entire eye makeup an innocent, calm, and subtle feel. The lip color selected was close to an everyday lip balm texture to avoid the maturity brought by dark colors, thereby emphasizing childlike color layering. The eyebrows were also trimmed thinner, making the facial contours softer overall.
The wig was the key highlight and challenge of this look. The light golden long hair was made of matte high-temperature silk with a delicate texture. The bangs were trimmed relatively thick, presenting a smooth, doll-like curve. The sideburns on both sides adopted a hime-cut style, extending just long enough to cover the jawline, making the face shape look rounder visually and enhancing young visual traits. To keep hair strands from frizzing during the shoot, a smoothing spray was used as a base beforehand, and a curling iron was used to create a subtle inward curl at the tips.
For the outfit, a black jumper dress paired with a teal butterfly bowtie formed the core visual of young Lynette. The fabric chosen was a somewhat thick matte woven fabric with structure and drape, allowing the dress to maintain its compact silhouette without losing fabric quality, avoiding easy wrinkling. Although the two brown buttons on the chest were simple accessories, they served a great decorative purpose in the uniform design. The lantern sleeves of the white shirt reflected the character's elegant retro charm, and the small round badge on the cuff was individually customized and recreated. The cat ears and tail were the soul accessories this time. The edges of the cat ears featured light golden short fur with white fluffy lining inside. I specifically adjusted the wearing angle of the ears to tilt slightly forward, making their 3D dimension and layering stand out most when shot from the front, visually looking like real fur growing from the head. The tail was secured with a hidden hook-and-loop fastener with high fur density; resting on the white plush carpet, it blended seamlessly into the environment.
For set construction, elements related to magic and card tricks from character lore were referenced. Reddish-brown drapes and white walls formed a striking color contrast, helping highlight the light-colored hair and black, white, and teal outfit. Playing cards were scattered across the floor in a deliberately casual state, as if she had just finished a small magic practice session or was playing secretly backstage. During shooting, I sat on the carpet with arms supporting my leaning body and legs naturally extended forward. This posture naturally guided the gaze toward my face while displaying the extended body lines formed by the Over-the-knee socks outfit and black platform shoes, fitting the character's slender, graceful setting. Showing the soles facing the lens intentionally displayed the heavy texture brought by anti-slip treads, giving the bottom of the frame a solid visual anchor.
Besides seated poses, I also tried small gestures during shooting, such as reaching out a single hand to touch nearby playing cards, or softly tilting my head to look sideways. For a girl with feline traits like Lynette, large movements actually lose the character's quiet, elegant charm; static gazes staring directly into the lens or casually tilting her head toward a corner better express her mysterious and curious heart.
In terms of lighting, the main light utilized a large softbox to cast even front light, making skin tone fairer and clearer, while a standard reflector lamp in the back illuminated the wig edges and cat ear outlines, separating the character from the white background. A white background can easily make pictures look flat, but the red drapes and dark skirt weighed down the overall color balance, achieving a good compositional equilibrium. I am quite satisfied with the completion of this Anime cosplay set, as it accurately recreates the core demeanor and temperament of Genshin Impact's Lynette in her childhood state. Playing a character at a new stage is always an immersive experience into their background and setting.
