[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] A Lazy Little Routine in Blue Archive - Image 1

This set of photos was shot around 3:00 PM when the lighting intensity was just right to capture the transparent, vibrant green of the lawn. The venue was a pre-selected artificial turf, as the synthetic grass blades are more uniform and less prone to messy shadows compared to natural grass.

A lot of prep work went into the shoot beforehand. The costume consisted of custom-made white sportswear with a blue collar and black shorts, made of fabric with a nice drape. I paired them with white over-the-knee socks and black-white-and-blue sneakers, deliberately tying the shoelaces in a neat, closed loop. The pink wig was smoothed and styled prior to shooting, and the halo prop on top had a hidden support bracket inside so it appeared to float in top-down shots without exposing the support.

The theme this time was a side-lying pose hugging a long white pillow. I curled up on my side on the lawn, wrapping my arms around the pillow. The angle and grip on the body pillow required repeated adjustments—not too tight to cover my face, yet not too loose to lose the feeling of grounded weight. My hands were crossed against the side of the pillow, wearing white wristbands, with my legs bent together slightly. From the top-down perspective, these leg lines and the overall silhouette best brought out the playful charm of the sportswear look. The photographer used a wide aperture, ensuring my face remained sharp while softening the background and foreground blur, accentuating the pink hair and the white pillow.

During shooting, the main concern was turf indentations, as lying on the grass left depressions, requiring us to smooth out the grass blades every few shots to keep the frame clean. I kept my eyes closed with a relaxed facial expression, using meditation to ease into a genuinely sleepy state to capture the character's signature lazy demeanor. For lighting, we relied mainly on natural light; since the sun was soft, we avoided excessive fill lights, using only a reflector near the side of my face to slightly lift shadows and even out skin tones.

Post-processing mainly involved adjusting exposure parameters and color temperature, boosting the saturation of the green lawn, and lowering contrast to create a more transparent image while making the pink hair and halo stand out against the cool-toned green background. The black shorts and white sneakers provided a balanced visual anchor in the frame. Having reviewed the character's personality beforehand—knowing she loves sleeping and spacing out—I chose this eyes-closed, pillow-hugging pose. The shoot went very smoothly, and by accounting for changing light, we completed all shots during the ample afternoon daylight. The outfit was extremely loose and comfortable, making relaxing outdoors during the shoot a truly pleasant experience.
