[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] The Autumn Magician's Forest Afternoon

The autumn sunshine is indeed not harsh, shining on the body with a slightly cool breeze that just drives away the chill.

Putting on this outfit and heading out for the shoot, even just standing in front of such a rustic wooden cabin makes my mood feel as warm as if it were baked by the sun. Although the temperature dropped a bit suddenly today, taking advantage of such rare good weather in the afternoon, I still decided to finish shooting this Marisa Kirisame cosplay photoshoot I prepared earlier.

What attracts me most about this look is the layered feel of the black and white clothing. For this shoot, I specially reorganized the internal support structure of the large hat; those white lace edges combined with the stiff brim, paired with the iconic blonde twin-tails and side braids, visually restore the character's innocence and liveliness exceptionally well. The skirt section features a black and white color block with a lot of pleated designs. To prevent it from looking cumbersome, I paired it with a sufficiently thick petticoat inside and out, allowing the layered lace to drape naturally. The thick-soled Mary Janes feel very stable stepping on the wooden steps; although heavy to wear, they truly fit this designated Lolita style of a magician.

In terms of props, the magic wand used for this shoot is also the soul of this look. The curved handle feels great to hold, and the end delicately recreates the strap decorations of a broom. During the shoot, I am used to treating the prop as part of my body language. Whether leaning on it by the roadside or casually placing it on the grass, it balances the composition beautifully, making the entire scene look full of narrative.

The lighting conditions for this autumn photography session were highly ideal, especially around three or four o'clock in the afternoon. The photographer specially selected a scene outside the small wooden cabin; the wooden walls, steps, along with the slightly autumn-vibe withered grass and small flowers nearby, all formed a great contrast of light and shadow under the sun. I only needed to sit quietly on the steps of the wooden cabin or look into the distance, and the light and shadow could naturally outline the dimensionality of the costume. When shooting some sitting and lying poses, the upward angle also excellently displayed the details of the shoe soles and the full view of the skirt hem.

I am very satisfied with this photoshoot. Being able to complete a Touhou Project-themed cosplay in an outdoor location so full of daily-life atmosphere makes me feel that my hobby has found a better materialization. I hope everyone can feel the warmth and coziness under the autumn sun, as well as the unique charm of the character Marisa, through these detailed frames.
