For this photoshoot, capturing a dynamic action pose in Xiao Qiao's default skin cosplay was the core theme, focusing on breaking away from conventional stiff poses and using expressive body language to recreate the character's energy and vitality.
The short pink hair styled in double buns paired with deep reddish-brown woven hair bands is visually striking. For makeup, a translucent look with reddish tones was selected, paired with matching color contact lenses to give her gaze a nimble, playful feel. The halter-neck off-the-shoulder pink dress uses a glossy satin fabric with subtle dark floral patterns, while deep brown neck straps around the collar and edges make the chest tailoring more dimensional. Silver-gray piping and white five-petal flower motifs on the skirt hem add exquisite details, while light pink ruffles underneath enrich the overall layers of the dress.
For props, a large pink folding fan was chosen, featuring white floral patterns on the fan surface and black ribs creating sharp color contrast. To enhance the overall sense of flow, two long thin ribbons were tied behind the waist to support visual tension during dynamic movement. The shooting location was an outdoor classical Chinese garden. Dark wooden pillars, tiled eaves, carved wooden doors, and bluestone steps constructed a rustic sense of space.
During shooting, natural light was used, with the angle of sunlight shifting over time. To imbue the images with vitality, I designed a series of stretched poses. For instance, leaning forward while extending the fan highlights the collarbones and shoulders of the off-the-shoulder outfit; or standing on one leg while kicking the other far back, paired with raising the fan high in hand to visually elongate body lines. The difficulty of capturing such dynamic action pose shots lies in controlling movement range—requiring a tight core to avoid sloppy posture while keeping a sweet expression and focused gaze right when the shutter snaps.
Leg styling was also a key focus of the outfit. A pink-and-white gradient over-the-knee Stocking outfit was featured, where the thigh-high part is clean white, deepening downwards to bright pink at the ankles, visually lengthening leg proportions. Paired with reddish-pink chunky-heeled lace-up Mary Jane shoes and pink pom-pom decorations on the upper, the overall style is cute and distinctive. During real-scene shooting, uncontrollable environmental elements like background pillars and steps were inevitable, but we minimized clutter during framing to keep focus on the subject. Shooting these movements consumed quite a bit of physical energy, requiring repeated attempts to get ribbons and skirt hems floating naturally in mid-air.
In post-processing, I preferred retaining the warmth of natural sunlight so ambient light in raw photos appeared clear and natural, with slight saturation adjustments on the dress's reds and pinks to complement the wooden structures and gray steps. Through three-dimensional makeup and energetic body language, this look effectively conveys a distinct character personality. My biggest takeaway from this shoot was that candid dynamic captures test expressive capability far more than static posing; without fixed angles, one must guide the image flow more proactively than expected, utilizing the fan's opening and closing alongside body tilt to enhance visual tension.
