[Konuri Maki cosplay] Outdoor camping in Blue Archive: Grab your gear and hit the road

Grabbed our gear and drove straight to that open green field—no complicated prep work, just set up today's camping spot right upon arrival. Although the weather was a bit unpredictable a few days ago, the sun was shining bright today with a gentle breeze blowing across the lawn, making it a perfect day to put outdoor plans on the agenda. This time, I met up with a friend to pitch tents together, dressed up in this Konuri Maki look, because this anime-style fashion naturally carries a very lively outdoor feel and looks super natural for everyday photos.

The wig was styled in advance into long hair, its vivid red particularly striking under natural sunlight, paired with a white fur-trimmed hat that added warmth as well as a cute, rounded charm. Underneath was a white collared shirt topped with a red knit vest, and the outermost layer was a khaki trench coat. This layered outfit's thickness was just right to handle early spring or late autumn outdoor temperatures—not too bulky to hinder movement, yet enough to block the wind on the lawn. For the bottom, I picked simple black leggings paired with fur-lined booties. Since it was cosplay camping, most activities took place on the open grass; the advantage of this outfit was that moving around was very agile, and the colors matched the green environment exceptionally well.

Once we arrived at the site, the first step was setting up the most essential gear. Unfolding the folding chairs and propping up a simple camping table immediately created a cozy little corner for chatting and having drinks. My portable tripod came in super handy this time—set up directly on the grass, it allowed me to switch to selfie mode at any time. The reason we didn't bring overly complex professional equipment was purely because this trip was all about lightweight portability and relaxation. Playing outside with friends, constantly shooting with a DSLR would make you miss out on enjoying the surroundings. The smartphone plus tripod combo allowed us to capture great compositions while instantly recording fun or tasty moments—a perfect division of labor. The photo where I'm making a hand gesture facing the phone was taken this way; no remote needed, just set the self-timer and strike a few natural poses in front of the tripod.

Speaking of the highlight of this camping trip, it had to be the delicious food on the table. We brought some ready-to-eat snacks and prepared fresh fruit. That basket of strawberries was bright red, forming a neat little echo with the red elements on my vest and wig. The oranges next to them were juicy and fresh, filling the air with a sweet aroma as soon as you peeled them. In the very center of the table was a golden-baked thick-cut toast topped with butter or cheese, looking incredibly appetizing. The roasted sweet potato in front was wrapped in foil and still warm, serving as a perfect tea-time staple. After eating carb-rich food like that and soaking up the sun on the grass, it's always easy to feel completely satisfied and relaxed.

Midway through, while enjoying drinks, we clinked glasses together, substituting alcohol with sparkling water or cola, which suited a casual afternoon like this perfectly. Throughout the process, there were plenty of other visitors nearby picnicking or flying kites, everyone doing their own thing in a very relaxed atmosphere. Although carrying so much stuff out and setting up the gear takes some energy, the moment you sit on a folding chair, gaze at the open scenery, and sip an iced drink, you feel all that effort was totally worth it.

Looking back at the photos themselves, this shoot didn't deliberately feature staged poses; most of them were very lifestyle candid shots. The focus of sharing and recording this isn't really about how accurate the character portrayal is, but rather letting the character blend into real daily life scenes, creating a sense that the character actually went out to spend the weekend. The hem of the trench coat blowing gently in the wind, the strands of the wig slightly glinting in the sunlight—these effortless details appeal to me far more than heavily edited photos. Many cosplayers worry about harsh outdoor light or wind ruining the wig during outdoor photography, but I feel as long as you fix it well in advance and prepare a few props, you can actually capture images with much more atmospheric depth and airiness.

This outdoor camping outing with Konuri Maki was a genuinely authentic and relaxing weekend activity. Every cosplayer probably shares this feeling: when you step away from studio lights and stylist adjustments, walking into real spaces like parks, lakesides, or open fields wearing your own prepared costume, your mindset naturally relaxes, and the resulting photos carry much more vitality. As evening approached, the distant woods and tents were bathed in warm-toned light. We stayed on the lawn until right before sunset. As the temperature dropped at night, by the time we packed up all the folding chairs and tables, only broad shadows and a cool breeze remained on the grass. Though tired after a full day, my spirit got a wonderful breather—and that's the most direct feeling outdoor photography and outdoor cosplay bring me.
