[Little Doctor Fairy Cosplay] The White-Robed Doctor Fairy from Battle Through the Heavens, Maxing Out the Ethereal Vibe This Time

I finally got my hands on the convention photos from this event! I chose a white-and-purple dress outfit that I'm very satisfied with, which is the classic look of Little Doctor Fairy from Battle Through the Heavens.

Let's start with the outfit. The material of this costume is quite refined—the outer layer is a blend of slightly glossy chiffon and satin. When walking, the hem and sleeve cuffs flare out naturally, making it especially suitable for capturing dynamic shots. The metal clasps and tassels at the waist were custom-made by hand, with just the right weight so they don't swing wildly around. To recreate the character's cool and aloof temperament, I specifically chose a long straight silver-white wig, paired with a diamond-shaped rhinestone forehead ornament and butterfly hairclips on both sides, making the overall color scheme fit the original design seamlessly.

For the hairstyle, to create a sense of lightness in the photos, I thinned and loosened the strands a bit. This way, when the wind blows or I spin around, the ends of the hair scatter naturally instead of looking stiff. As for makeup, I chose a lighter foundation shade, used a gradient of pinkish-purple shades for eyeshadow, and paired it with pink lip gloss and light-colored contact lenses. This highlighted the depth of my eyes while retaining the character's gentleness. Highlighter was applied to the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, and collarbones so that my contours remained sharp even under the strong lights at the convention venue.

The photoshoot process was actually quite challenging. The venue was crowded with complex lighting, where overhead stage lights and fill lights alternated, truly testing the photographer's mastery of light control. My favorite in this set of photos is the snapshot of me sitting on the platform; the high-slit skirt perfectly revealed my leg lines, and with the flattering touch of platform high heels, the overall proportions were elongated very naturally. The other dynamic snapshots also felt great—I spun around on purpose to let the wide water sleeves and skirt fly, and the photographer captured the moment the fabric froze in mid-air, bringing out that ethereal ancient style Xianxia cosplay vibe instantly.

The temperature on the day of the convention wasn't low, but to present the best result, I insisted on walking around for half a day in full gear. Although the outfit was light, the accessories and wig together weighed a fair bit. Especially when weaving through the crowd or squatting down to pose, I had to constantly adjust my skirt hem to avoid tripping. However, seeing the final photos made all the hard work feel completely worth it. I also interacted with a character standee during the shoot—there happened to be a standee of the character right next to me, so I took advantage of the setting to simulate a shot with "myself," which was quite a fun experience.

Speaking of this character, the hardest part was grasping her demeanor. Little Doctor Fairy possesses both a healer's gentleness and a trace of mystery and resilience; her expression couldn't be too cold, nor overly sweet. I tried my best to manage my facial muscles, keeping my gaze peaceful with a faint smile, paired with natural hand gestures like resting my chin on my hands, making a heart gesture, or gently stretching out my arms, making the portrayal feel both ethereal and genuine.

Many passing friends at the venue recognized me and called out "Little Doctor Fairy!", and that feeling of being acknowledged was truly amazing. Looking back at these photos, I feel that every cosplay helps me better understand and present a character, including outfit details, fine-tuning expressions, and coordinating light and shadow. This photoshoot relied very little on heavy post-processing, depending mostly on pre-shoot makeup, styling, and lighting coordination. Therefore, the resulting texture feels quite authentic without an overly heavy filter feel—a clean and narrative style that I personally favor.

Lastly, I'd like to share a small detail: those light purple platform shoes. The platform design meant I didn't feel too tired even after standing for a long time, and they made my legs look longer, serving as a great bonus to this look. Overall, the cosplay photography experience at this convention was very smooth, and the photographer really knew how to capture the right angles—almost every shot was usable without much picking.
