[Priestess Cosplay] Arknights: A Gaze into the Pre-Civilization Era Through the Viewfinder

The character Priestess carries immense weight within the world of Arknights. She is not only a ray of light in the Doctor's memories, but also one of the most critical witnesses to that period of pre-civilization history. During today's photoshoot, I attempted to externalize her mysterious essence—both intimate and distant—through minimal body language and subtle light play.

To accurately recreate her digitized and tech-infused aura, the Eye makeup close-up was today's central focus. Rather than choosing dramatic false eyelashes, I used slender, individually defined eyeliner paired with nude eye shadows to give the eye contour an extended look. The glowing square light spot on the pupil was actually achieved by capturing light at specific angles using special reflective media, topped off with precise post-processing tweaks. I feel this light flare perfectly aligns with Priestess's rational, code-driven nature as a "prophet" of the pre-civilization era.

The viewfinder framing created by my hands was originally designed to express the concept of "gazing" and "recording." As Priestess, her eyes are always watching the Doctor and the grand chessboard that is about to change the fate of Terra. Peering through the gap between my hands feels like looking into the future through a window in time and space—a visually tense technique that perfectly matches her aura as one who holds sacred secrets.

To craft that profound atmosphere, we used low-intensity side-backlighting on set. This darkened the background while rimming facial contours with a faint cool-toned halo. In my view, this lighting logic fits the cold, secret-laden feel of pre-civilization ruins, moving the shot away from typical sweet Anime-style photography and infusing it with narrative tension suited for hard-core photography. This facial close-up demands extremely high skin texture, requiring authentic, delicate skin that conveys the passage of time rather than an over-smoothed, mask-like state.

I also put considerable effort into the costume and prop details for this shoot. Although close-ups don't show the full outfit, to match Priestess's overall design, I specifically chose a white blouse with subtle textures to create a lightweight, cloth-yet-not-cloth illusion—complemented her ethereal yet warm and approachable image. Before shooting, the overall eye makeup alone took an hour and a half of meticulous refining, especially the smudging on the lower eyelid, which needed a natural muted tone to mirror her tired yet resolute state after enduring endless years.

In everyday photography, a composition where the foreground hands and background environment are completely blurred—focusing 100% of the visual weight on the eyes—tests the synergy between model and photographer immensely. We needed to precisely control pupil positioning in an instant to ensure the glowing rectangular element was captured right at the pupil, requiring constant communication and repeated focal adjustments. This research-like process actually made me feel like Priestess conducting a precise scientific experiment, completely focused and absorbed.

As Priestess's cosplayer, I abandoned overly exaggerated body movements in this set, maintaining a restrained and introspective flow of emotion. I believe this character's strength lies not in outward flair, but in her steady composure as a deeply complex figure facing an unknown fate for a supreme goal. That pixelated square glare seems like the key she holds to the secrets of Originium, reflecting the bond spanning thousands of years between her and the Doctor. I hope these photos bring everyone back into that mystery-shrouded storyline, looking through her eyes to see more stories behind Arknights' pre-civilization era.
