The shoot focused on the daily life of this rabbit spirit salaryman. From studying the mooncakes in hand to casually grabbing snacks, that atmosphere of being constantly on standby for hardcore overtime was precisely recorded.
When I saw the finished photos, I felt I didn't fully capture that powerful corporate overlord aura from the comic. Instead, it looked more like a middle-aged worker stuck working overtime on the weekend, holding a laptop and worrying about business performance. This contrast actually gives the photos a more authentic flavor—less pretentious and closer to the slightly comedic life snippets in the comic.
In this set of photos, I intentionally incorporated many highly true-to-life props, like the scattered mooncakes, puffed snacks on the table, and a small magnifying glass I used as a prop. At first, I was a bit stiff since it was my first time doing a serious Beijing studio photoshoot. I didn't know where to put my hands and feet. However, through communicating with the photographer, we quickly adjusted our direction, dropped the forced posing, and directly entered the character's home-stay state. For instance, resting my feet on the office chair or completely curling up in a plush onesie on the bed to binge-watch shows; this highly relaxed body language actually helped me find the character's core.
A special thanks goes to the photographer I booked this time; our collaboration was incredibly smooth. He not only managed the shooting pace beautifully but also held his own unique understanding of light and composition, especially excelling at capturing casual micro-expressions. Whether I was staring at the computer while biting on potato chips or studying the patterns on a mooncake, those defenseless, natural moments were all locked in by his shutter. The post-processing was also spot-on; the color grading feels premium, the skin texture is translucent and natural, and the eyes are bright. This unexaggerated and highly enduring style of fine retouching makes our rabbit spirit look both cute and exquisite in this piece of Portrait photography.
Considering this was my first time producing a formal photoset, I put quite a bit of thought into the preparation stage. From the layering of the wig trim to matching the beast-ear hair accessories with the outfit, I hoped to stay as close as possible to the character's original design within a limited budget. Although the text notes a lack of a boss aura, as a thousand-year-old rabbit spirit coming to the human world to work, this touch of mundane life and fatigue might just be the most authentic side of her life. This Casual cosplay shooting experience was highly pleasant, showing me more possibilities in character interpretation, and I look forward to trying more diverse character styles in the future.
