Regarding this Ushio Kofune cosplay set from Summer Time Rendering, right from the moment I decided on this dark blue one-piece swimsuit and blonde wig with straight bangs, I had been looking forward to the seaside scene. Qingdao's sea breeze was gentler than imagined, though the water temperature still carried a hint of early autumn chill. The shooting day was overcast with a gray sky, which unexpectedly placed a soft diffusion filter over the frame. I really liked this soft diffuse light without strong shadows; skin tones turned out exceptionally translucent, and paired with light blue contacts, the cool aesthetic and anime vibe were instantly maxed out for this Seaside photoshoot capturing a unique Summer atmosphere.
For the first set standing in shallow water, we tried various angles. For the shot leaning over touching my ear, I intentionally relaxed my shoulders and tilted my center of gravity slightly forward, letting long hair drop naturally—this not only highlighted the wig's drape, but also made my posture look lighter. The standing hair-flicking posture was meant to capture a natural "just blown by sea breeze" feel; although the wind wasn't strong that day, the wig quality was great, so a slight flick created a dynamic wind-blown motion. The dark blue swimsuit's white subtle trim was the finishing touch; its retro feel fit the character's slightly nostalgic and clear temperament perfectly.
As twilight fell, we moved to the beach to shoot the sparkler segment. This was actually my favorite part of the entire Cosplay photoshoot set. Sparkler flames glowed brightly in dusk light, providing great facial light source while creating warm-cold color contrast against the dark blue ocean and horizon behind. For sitting-crouching shots holding sparklers, I intentionally adjusted eye focus toward the glowing sparkler point, letting my pupils reflect light spots; with subtle cosplay makeup touches, it looked truly vivid. There was also a top-down shot extending my hand toward the camera, utilizing wide-angle lens perspective deformation to give a sense of "trying to grasp something"—I was extremely satisfied with this composition.
Because of alternating between underwater and beach shooting, the wig didn't tangle and the swimsuit didn't shift throughout the process, which owed to smoothing the wig beforehand and the outfit's form-fitting tailoring. I pay attention to posture details—like slight knee bends when standing or toe extensions when sitting—these subtle body languages elevate cosplay characters from "flat" to "vivid." Although temperatures weren't high that day, stepping into ocean waves repeatedly was completely worth it for optimal visual results. I hope sharing this post conveys that quiet, fresh, and slightly dreamy seaside feeling to all of you.
