Choosing to shoot this Seele Mirrored Flourishes cosplay from Honkai Impact 3rd, the costume design is crafted with remarkable attention to detail. From the black mesh at the neckline to the cloud patterns on the skirt hem, down to the large blue floral ornaments on the arms and the black criss-cross leg straps, the abundant details provided ample creative room for photography. During preparations, the biggest challenge was actually the hair and makeup. Pairing purple short hair with blue contact lenses, adjustments were made to the eye makeup to make the gaze more vivid—drawing a very fine eyeliner with a slight flick at the outer corner. The white flower hairpiece and blue-and-white ribbon took considerable time to secure onto the wig to prevent shifting during larger movements. Wearing the long blue gloves also required skill, ensuring a snug fit on the hands while blending seamlessly with the arm floral adornments.

For the location, we selected a classical Chinese-style interior set with an artificial water floor, creating mirror-like reflections that lent a serene atmosphere to the photos. The background was decorated with calligraphy banners, Japanese-style wooden lattice screens, warm yellow floor lanterns, birdcages, plum blossoms, peonies, and tea sets. The combination of these props significantly elevated the visual texture of the photoshoot, complementing the overall lighting to highlight the unique, cool serenity of Mirrored Flourishes. During shooting, the photographer used lighting to create a soft, hazy ambiance that set a wonderful mood.

For prop coordination, I prepared a translucent round silk fan, a light-green teacup, and slender tassels. When holding the silk fan, careful hand gestures were necessary to flow with the movement of the skirt hem, balancing an expression between subtle pride and tranquil poise. Throughout the shoot, the photographer guided many variations in seated poses and eye directions. For instance, sitting by the tea table or crouching over the water reflection offered great opportunities to showcase the leg straps and leg lines, requiring precise angles to look slender and elongated. At times, I pretended to pour tea or reached out to gently touch the flowers, striving for natural, fluid movements.

The most immediate feeling from pulling off this Traditional Chinese style cosplay is the sheer intricacy of the outfit, which demanded utmost care when dressing and undressing—especially arranging the leg straps and blue arm flowers took substantial time. The shoot was lengthy and required maintaining consistent expressions throughout; exhausting as it was, seeing the finished photos made everything feel worthwhile. Post-processing preserved the misty, hazy aesthetic of the studio, which, paired with warm yellow lighting, gave the photos an ethereal, mirror-like quality.
