[Dialyn Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Agent: Tracking Clues in a Lazy Afternoon

When shooting this set for Zenless Zone Zero Dialyn Cosplay, I kept pondering how to blend the character's casual, lazy aura with her keen sharpness as an agent. Ultimately, we set the scene in an indoor environment filled with cozy lived-in warmth, integrating clue-solving prop elements.

Regarding this outfit, the biggest highlight is the black-and-white twin hair buns and complex garment structure. The wig adopted a layered black-and-white contrasting design, with black spheres and red knot accents on both sides atop the head acting as visual eye-catchers that echo the character's original styling. The main garment is paneled in black and white, featuring wide ruffled cuffs with subtle pinstripes, complemented by gold trim and red waist ribbons for rich detailing. During shooting, I paid special attention to placing the cuff shapes, as compressed ruffles would lose depth. The white tights perfectly fit the overall lightweight tone, creating a nice visual balance with the heavier upper layer.

In terms of makeup and expression management, I didn't want to strike overly serious poses, opting instead for a playful, relaxed state. Closing one eye while lightly tapping my chin with one hand in the first photo highlighted the character's composure, appearing friendly yet slightly mysterious. Before shooting, I discussed with the photographer at length to confirm that these micro-expressions fit the tone of the work, truly bringing the character to life rather than just putting on a pose.

The scene design was the highlight of the entire shoot. Although we chose a warm-toned indoor space, we didn't treat it as just a simple lounge. The wide-angle overhead perspective in the second photo reveals the answer: newspapers spread across the desktop, photo files, maps, and red clue strings interwoven among them built a classic investigation and puzzle-solving atmosphere. This setup greatly enriched the visual storytelling while granting credibility to the character's identity. Striking a relaxed posture in front of a table brimming with clues created a striking contrast—a design I thoroughly enjoyed for this shoot.

For lighting, we mainly utilized the light-transmitting effect of Venetian blinds. The blinds sliced harsh light into soft light bands, casting lovely contour lighting onto the hair and shoulders from behind. This warm yellow halo diffusing indoors made skin texture look translucent and natural, while staining the white clothes and white tights in warm hues to avoid the dry harshness of plain white studio backdrops. The photographer put much thought into camera angles for this Cosplay photography, combining half-body close-ups that highlight the character in the first photo with overhead full-shots establishing the environment in the second, making the overall atmosphere complete.

During shooting, the outfit's complex structure brought considerable challenges. The puff sleeves and ruffles on the cuffs easily looked bulky during movement, requiring constant tweaking. Poses sitting on the sofa or leaning against the chair back also demanded careful attention to garment folds to preserve neatness. Yet these meticulous detail adjustments are precisely what must be taken seriously in Anime cosplay, paving the necessary path to better final shots.

From makeup and styling prep to scene building and flexible on-site adjustments, the process was tough, but seeing the final imagery and scene ambiance brought a tremendous sense of accomplishment. I hoped to convey the everyday state of a cozy agent through lens language, fulfilling a personal desire in this Roleplay endeavor.
