This set of photos can be considered the most bumpy outdoor photoshoot I've had since starting cosplay. Both the photographer and I slipped on the mossy rocks by the stream, and when we arrived at the shooting location, I realized I forgot my shoes and had to go barefoot. When I got back to organize the photos, I discovered that the inner lining was actually worn inside out—it was simply a comedy scene.

This session features Moriya Suwako cosplay from Touhou Fuujinroku: Mountain of Faith. To fit the setting of a native god, we specifically chose this lush, water-sourced valley for the location. Although the process was a mess, the final photo results were a wonderful surprise. The makeup details were kept as close to the character as possible. The short golden hair has a distinct texture under the dappled forest light, and the white and blue costume forms a perfect visual contrast with the cool green background.

The details of the clothes were well-done; I didn't notice anything wrong at the time until the final selection, when I found out the lining was inside out—quite a little interlude in this memory. Maintaining balance on one leg on a large rock by the stream was a true test of core strength and balance, since one wrong step on the moss-covered surface meant starting all over again.

The light was a natural helper for this set of photos. This time, we didn't use any fill light throughout the session, relying entirely on the natural dappled light filtering through the woods. The sunlight penetrating the gaps between leaves hit the white robe and skirt hem, creating a strong contrast with the dark shadows in the deep shade, giving it a very raw, rustic atmosphere. I especially like the few frames of sitting on the rock and looking up, as if I could truly hear the wind blowing through the treetops interlacing with the sound of flowing water.

Facing the camera, I pondered the natural sense of an ancient deity. Although the day was full of unexpected situations, the photographer's live capture was highly precise, always catching my most relaxed state when I was adjusting my balance. This forest stream cosplay was not just a character recreation, but more like an interaction with the forest's elements.

Perhaps this is the charm of outdoor locations; unexpected situations are unavoidable, but these accidents instead made this cosplay lively and interesting. Making all kinds of preparations in advance remains the golden rule, but no matter what, being able to do my best to interpret a character I love makes being a little disheveled completely worth it.
