Taking advantage of the clearing weather, I finally brought out this Asuka maid outfit for a shoot. The details of this outfit are highly faithful to the original, featuring dark blue puff sleeves paired with white lace trim. Along with the iconic twin-tails wig and headband, anyone can recognize that tsundere girl from Neon Genesis Evangelion at a glance. Posing with a lollipop in my mouth was also a deliberate choice to preserve the character's casual yet slightly rebellious vibe. To capture the dynamic movement of the skirt flying up, I jumped up and down the stairs repeatedly. Fortunately, the sunshine was perfect, bringing out even the pleats of the skirt and the texture of the white over-the-knee socks.

This time, I chose outdoor stairs for the shoot mainly to utilize natural light and the cool tones of concrete architecture to contrast with the bright colors of the outfit. Artificial light sources can hardly replicate the rim light brought by this kind of top lighting, so I specifically picked around 2 or 3 PM to take a few backlit shots showing the translucent effect through the strands of hair and the lace edges. However, the wind was a bit strong on-site; when the skirt fluttered up, I had to control the angles so it wouldn't block my face. This kind of casual, everyday setting actually feels more filled with life than a pure studio shoot, making it look like a chance encounter with Asuka while out shopping on a weekend.

Regarding makeup, the focus was placed on the eyes. Since Asuka's eye color leans blue-green, I used colored contact lenses along with eyeliner to elongate the eyes, recreating her confident and slightly scrutinizing gaze. When styling the hair, I paid special attention to the volume of the twin-tails on both sides; otherwise, the top of the head would look flat. Honestly, the happiest part of doing anime cosplay isn't how perfect the final photos are, but the very moment you put on the outfit—you subconsciously adopt the character's attitude, and even your walking posture adjusts naturally. The color grading for this set only involved a slight desaturation in post-processing to preserve the original sunny texture. I hope everyone can feel that bright vibe with a touch of vintage film flavor.
