[Moriya Suwako cosplay] Touhou Project Frog God's Summer Lace straw hat Look

The character I cosplayed this time is Moriya Suwako from Touhou Project. To faithfully recreate her character design, I prepared this costume with great care. The outfit is packed with details: the brim of the Lace straw hat features wide lace ruffles on both sides, accented with purple ribbons. The neckline has a sheer lace high-collar design, layered with a vest woven with deep purple and golden geometric jacquard patterns. The purple bow on the chest is quite unique, adorned below with white pearls and golden tassels. The wig is a bright golden-yellow with thick straight-cut bangs, styled into long Blonde twin-tails. I tied purple ribbons on both sides of the hair. In terms of styling details, I chose large-diameter yellow-green contact lenses to capture the character's gaze. The eyebrow line was drawn lower, and I added the beauty mark near the corner of the mouth, which is an essential facial detail. To showcase the character's lively personality, I captured two distinct expressions during the shoot: one holding a dignified goddess-like posture, and another showing a playful, mischievous vibe. In an outdoor environment, because the lace embellishments on the straw hat are relatively heavy, tilting my head up or down easily knocked it askew, requiring one hand to hold the brim while adjusting the angle. Setting up selfie angles was also trickier than usual; capturing proper frontal perspective demanded precise focal distance control. Regarding lighting, to bring out the texture of the lace, I found spots with dappled shade to avoid harsh direct sunlight. The upper body of this costume has many heavy decorative elements, so bending over or shooting for long periods became tiring, but overcoming these minor challenges was necessary to achieve the best visuals. The process of makeup and photography felt refreshing—putting on each intricate accessory step by step, then finding a pose that showcases every costume detail. This photo set mainly documents my styling state and serves as a new presentation of my current interpretation of the character. Additionally, I conducted multiple tests on the fit between the hat and the wig to prevent the hair from getting flattened and obscuring my face shape. The gold-thread jacquard on the vest reflects natural light, placing high demands on camera angles. Furthermore, during selfies, it is difficult to see the alignment of the profile and shoulders at once, requiring repeated adjustments to the phone mount. The weight of the skirt also subtly affected standing posture. Given the complexity of all these accessories, I spent considerable time balancing the overall visual weight. Overall, I am very satisfied with the execution of this Anime cosplay styling, especially the character atmosphere brought out by the different expressions.
