A lot of thought went into this Rei Ayanami cosplay Angel form look for the Convention photos, from preparation to the final images. Starting with the costume and props, the pair of white feathered wings on my back was custom-made and quite heavy; to avoid getting too exhausted throughout the day at the event, I installed weight-distributing straps inside in advance. The white bandeau top and bandage materials were soft but prone to wrinkling, requiring careful smoothing before shooting began. Securing the oxygen mask was challenging; to prevent reflections on the transparent visor, the photographer had to find the right angles very meticulously. Wearing the mask also made it prone to fogging up from breathing, so I had to hold my breath to capture crisp shots—demanding far more precise facial expression control than standard styling. The wig selected was a light blue gradient piece, carefully trimmed for a long time according to the original short hair design; the layered ends directly determined the visual contouring of the face. The makeup leaned into a cool, detached aesthetic, keeping the base foundation as fair as possible and removing extraneous colors to recreate that delicate blend of mechanical detachment and fragile vulnerability. The venue was packed on shooting day, with cluttered backgrounds making clean framing difficult, so getting clean shots required constantly repositioning and using eye contact and poses to guide the photographer's lens. I specifically posed with a forward-reaching hand, aiming to convey the body language of longing to reach something untouchable. Throughout the shoot, the white outfit and wings stood out vividly in the crowd, requiring continuous attention to spatial depth before the camera to avoid passersby cutting into the edge of the frame. Although this look involves tedious details, the true challenge lies in mastering the character's temperament; the harmony between lighting and props made the final images feel complete. Delivering these photos also helped me explore many techniques for framing angles with props, which greatly enhanced my overall performance.
