[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane New Year Qipao Catgirl: A Wealthy Moment with White Tights and Sycees

I finally finished shooting this Azur Lane Cheshire New Year Qipao set! It took about two weeks from picking the style to the final makeup look. Just the massive white fluffy headpiece alone was adjusted several times to ensure the ears looked full while keeping the layered red petal tassels from looking messy in front of the lens. I chose a modified halter top with a black base and gold patterns, paired with a high-slit red skirt and a white fluffy shawl. The red, black, and gold colors look exceptionally striking under warm lighting. During the shoot, we intentionally laid a golden reflective sheet on the floor. Combined with giant golden sycees and peach blossom branches, it both fit the Spring Festival theme and reflected a soft, gentle glow.

The hardest part was actually the posing. For that shot where I sat cross-legged on the floor cradling a sycee and holding a calligraphy brush, I changed my angle seven or eight times just to find my center of balance. I had to let the white tights and the folds of the skirt drape naturally while ensuring the light hit my legs and the glossy patent leather of the shoes perfectly. The photographer on-site used a dual-light setup; the main light cast down from the upper right, bringing out a cool tone in the teal streak on my wig to contrast with the warm, passionate red background. The blue and white porcelain vases and scrolls prepared by the prop team also came in handy. In those shots where I stood next to the traditional armchair holding a folding fan, the key was to hide the tape on my hands. Fortunately, none of them ended up showing in the final edits.

The entire shoot lasted about four hours, during which I touched up my makeup three times. Because sweating under the bright lights can easily cause the makeup to run, luckily, the red-toned lipstick was extremely durable. Wearing this Qipao actually heavily tests your shoulder and neck lines, as the halter neck design focuses attention on the upper body. Fortunately, the fluffiness of the collar collar helps soften the width of my shoulders. Compared to typical flowing skirts, this stiff embroidered fabric is much better for striking sharp, clean poses. In the final cuts, my favorite is the shot of me sitting on the carpet holding a calligraphy brush as if writing the 'Fu' character, surrounded by a few golden sycees—it looks both festive and playful. I am sharing this set with everyone to showcase different styling attempts, and I hope you can feel the bustling warmth of the New Year atmosphere.
