During the ICOS Beijing International Animation and Comic Festival at Beijing Shougang Exhibition Center on October 19th and 20th, I completed a total of four cosplay photography and photo sharing logs for four characters with completely different styles. The venue setups and lighting conditions were quite suitable for capturing convention photos, and the overall weekend atmosphere was excellent.

The four styles chosen this time varied significantly. Sigewinne's outfit leaned towards a lively and cute style; the pink, blue, and white plush headpiece and the matching color-scheme costume were quite eye-catching, rendering a bright and cheerful tone under the indoor exhibition lights. Frieren's look, on the other hand, chose an outdoor flower sea setting; with silver-white twin-tails, elf ears, a red-and-gold long staff, and a retro suitcase, the natural colors of the flowers were utilized to echo the character's traveling temperament. The Kang Jin Long outfit, dominated by deep red and black clothing, paired with exaggerated smoky eye makeup and blue forehead markings, presented a calm and distant state under the shadows of a bamboo grove and waterside. Lynette's scene was set at night, featuring a bright blue cardigan paired with cat ears and black gloves; utilizing the background of a nighttime cherry blossom tree and a flash, it created an effect similar to a night photoshoot at an opera house.

In past comic conventions, most of my time was spent considering how to handle the costume details of characters. This time, because the four characters had sharp contrasts, everything from makeup to wearing accessories required adjusting the feel from scratch. Sigewinne's plush head ornament needed to be fixed in position, otherwise it would easily lean sideways when walking around; Frieren's suitcase had to have the right angle chosen to blend in with the flowers; the fabric of Kang Jin Long's red outfit had many layers, making it feel rather heavy to wear, but the convention photos turned out to have a strong three-dimensional look; and Lynette's night scene look required manual fill light to highlight the texture of the buttons and bowties on her outfit.

Aside from the shooting itself, the convention venue was highly dynamic, with many fellow enthusiasts constantly walking around with phones or cameras. The significance of an offline comic convention isn't just about taking a few nice pictures, but rather serving as a platform to freely interact with fellow fans. Inside the Beijing Shougang Exhibition Center, enthusiasts from different regions gathered to share the works they were recently passionate about and discuss which prop was better recreated. This kind of face-to-face communication is a precious experience. I also saw quite a few official interactive areas in the hall; the overall planning and traffic flow design were reasonably arranged.

Now that this group of photos has been sorted out, each styling has formed its own independent sense of story. Sigewinne's brightness, Frieren's tranquility, Kang Jin Long's sense of distance, and Lynette's refinement under the night sky—although the process was a bit exhausting, the resulting visual effects are all quite ideal. I hope to try more looks with different settings in the future and continue to take satisfying works at conventions.
