Yesterday afternoon, I carried my gear up to the rooftop, arriving just in time for the golden hour before sunset. With no time to wait for the wind to die down, we started shooting right away in this Rooftop photography session. This costume features rich accessory layering—a white collared shirt with a black tie underneath, a loose deep-cyan overcoat on the outside, and a wide metallic belt at the waist alongside heavy, mechanical-style prop equipment that carried considerable heft in hand.
During the shoot, we deliberately used a wide-angle lens for a Low-angle shot, hoping to capture the expansive sense of vastness. At that moment, the reflective light from the clouds was phenomenal; the greyish-blue tones spreading from the skyline sculpted the character's silhouette with distinct depth, making details crisp without heavy artificial lighting. The hair and Kemonomimi cosplay ears swayed naturally in the evening breeze. Reviewing the camera later, these subtle dynamic motions felt even more vivid than rigid, posed postures.
Choosing the rooftop as our backdrop was all about embracing the vast openness of the sky. In one of the photos, an airplane happened to streak across the frame, bringing a fleeting moment of deep tranquility. We shot for nearly several hours; lingering in the wind left my forehead slightly chilled, but seeing the resulting light and shadow in this Anime-style photo set made it completely worthwhile. Although the prop was heavy, holding it firmly actually helped stabilize my posture—especially when crossing my arms in front, radiating a cool, detached composure that aligned perfectly with my interpretation of this styling.
Speaking of the photography itself, executing a Low-angle shot while wearing a skirt was quite a test of footing and balance, requiring careful attention to center of gravity. Fortunately, the final shots beautifully showcased the fabric's drape and the crisp, bold lines of the waist corset. What I aimed to convey overall was that calm yet resolute inner strength—unassuming yet unshakeable.
Life begins from the sky and returns to the sky, and this shoot felt like drawing a fitting conclusion beneath this celestial dome. Sorting through these photos, what the light and shadow captured was not merely the character herself, but also the trace of every breeze that brushed past. Being able to experience another perspective before the lens in this attire felt like a brief, granted privilege. There's no need to overstate the emotions; the serenity conveyed by the photos beneath the Sunset over a sea of clouds is already enough.
