[Nagato Cosplay] Azur Lane: Camera Records from Firefly ACG Expo

I've finally organized this photo set of the battleship Nagato from Azur Lane shot at the Firefly ACG Expo. While the retouching momentum is still fresh, I'd like to share some reflections and details regarding the styling and photography process.

First, let's talk about the styling design. To align with Nagato's character lore, the outfit incorporates a modified Chinese-style spliced top in white and soft pink, featuring a stand-up mandarin collar fastened with pink frog closures for rich visual layering. The front of the top features tasteful cutouts to add breathability and lightness. The most eye-catching accessories are the plush animal ears in a black-and-pink palette: the base of the left ear is tied with a thick red braided cord, while the right ear is adorned with white blossoms and trailing white ribbons, providing wonderful color accents in the frame for this Kemonomimi cosplay.

For the wig, sleek long black hair with thick, blunt-cut bangs was selected, styled with a long single braid on the left side so that when lying down or shifting poses, the braid drapes naturally to enhance visual dynamism. The accompanying White pantyhose and black platform shoes are also essential elements: the white tights look remarkably cohesive against the light-colored garments while beautifully flattering leg contours, whereas the chunky platform footwear adds grounding weight so the overall silhouette never feels flimsy.

Moving on to specific poses and direction, we selected a relatively clean indoor setting featuring a white plush rug on the floor—a minimalist, light-toned backdrop that effectively accentuates the subject's details. To capture agility in this photo set, I explored diverse posing ideas: lying on the plush rug while resting my chin on my hands with legs naturally raised, which offers a direct and approachable perspective; or sitting cross-legged resting my cheek on one hand, combined with pointing to lips or making heart gestures to cultivate a playful, vibrant mood.

Several shots showcase "strength" and direct interaction—such as clenching a fist to show arm lines, reaching toward the camera, or close-ups pointing a finger at the lens—all creating engaging focal points that break static framing and convey vivid emotion to the viewer. Throughout the shoot, I paid careful attention to my gaze: since Nagato possesses a demeanor that is both dignified and composed yet undeniably adorable, I kept my eyes focused yet warm and gentle.

Regarding the on-site environment, the atmosphere at Firefly ACG Expo was buzzing with enthusiasm and crowds. Finding suitable lighting and backdrops amidst such lively hustle requires patience. However, I am very satisfied with the final photos; the lighting was diffused and soft, without harsh shadows.

Overall, this Nagato cosplay is a project into which I poured immense dedication at the convention. From outfit fitting, wig grooming, and styling, to coordinating angles and lighting with the photographer, through to final retouching, every step aimed to capture the character's genuine aura.
