[Shinano Cosplay] Light and Airy Moments in Azur Lane Convention Photos

Putting on this outfit for Shinano cosplay and standing inside the comic convention venue holding this sheer blue-and-white veil, I was surrounded by familiar steel roof trusses and photography light stands. The lighting on site was actually quite complex, with cool natural light diffusing from high windows combined with crisscrossing lights from surrounding booths. Fortunately, we brought softboxes along that day, and after repeated adjustments by the photographer, the skin texture in these convention photos was restored to a very translucent and natural state.

Speaking of the wearing experience of this outfit: the pair of giant fluffy animal ears on top of the head is extremely eye-catching once put on, serving as one of the visual focal points of the entire look. They sway gently as I walk, adding a graceful sense of dynamic energy. The white lace inner top on the upper body combined with a bright blue satin bowtie, plus the pearl chain cascading from the neckline to the waist, creates a fresh and layered visual effect. The biggest design highlight, however, remains the wide semi-transparent aqua-blue tulle sleeve cuffs on both sides—not only a part of the styling, but also capable of creating an ethereal atmosphere through body movements in front of the lens.

The pose difficulty during the photoshoot was actually not small, especially while wearing these clear block-heeled sandals. To show the character's relaxed yet elegant state, I needed to walk back and forth in the hall seeking suitable lighting angles. The moment sitting on the black cushioned high stool in Photo 2 was actually captured during a scene transition break. With one leg naturally crossed over the other, managing the lens perspective allowed us to encompass the character's waistline, leg contours, and the blue-and-white cool color palette into the frame. My hands were subconsciously fiddling with the sheer cuffs beside me, and my expression naturally matched the moment.

Beyond seated poses, framing for standing postures was also very deliberate. The full-body standing shot in Photo 3 purposefully incorporated details of the clear high-heeled sandals into the composition while gently lifting one side of the tulle hem. Because the tulle itself has great light translucency, coordinating with the cold white light sources at the convention venue formed a smooth draping line in the frame, nicely echoing the light yet gorgeous traits of the character's style in Azur Lane.

Shooting these convention photos took a few hours from morning through afternoon. Moving around the hall, I met many fellow fans and photography enthusiasts who were mostly interested in the outfit's details, particularly the 3D blue star ornaments on the armbands and the pearl waist chain, allowing us to exchange thoughts on costume making and convention shoots. Various gear including flashes, softboxes, and reflectors were utilized on site; through multi-angle fill lighting and focal length selection, we ensured the cosplay image wouldn't be swallowed up by the large venue background.

Overall, I feel the convention photo results were quite close to expectations. Bringing a 2D character into reality relies not only on exquisite costume, hair, and makeup, but also heavily on emotional delivery during shooting and adapting to ambient light and shadow. Rather than relying excessively on post-processing, this set restored the authentic lighting and character expressions at that moment, hoping to convey the character's elegant, cool, yet approachable feel.
