The final edited images from this shoot display are finally sorted out. The overall color grading approach is quite different from my previous set; this time, it focuses more on building the corresponding lighting atmosphere based on the specific traits of each look. Because the lighting during the event was quite complex, the post-processing focused on preserving the original color inclination of the light sources while appropriately dimming the ambient light to make the visual focus on the main subject and the costume itself stand out more prominently.

This cosplay photoshoot serves as an experiment with several different character elements within the same timeframe. For the makeup, adjustments were made according to the character's personality attributes. For example, light blue contact lenses paired with silver-white hair make the overall makeup lines appear relatively soft and clean; conversely, when switching to long hair with dark streaks and reddish-brown contact lenses, the depiction of the eyeliner emphasized sharpness and an upward lift, which, when paired with the dimensional pointy elf ears, added a touch of composure and mystery to the demeanor. The layering of the wig is also crucial—light-colored wigs require proper root treatment and smoothing to avoid looking too bulky or frizzy on camera. The texture contrast of the costumes and props is another detail heavily highlighted in this shoot: patent leather hats and jackets, studded collars of soft and hard materials, semi-transparent sheer tulle cuffs, and an exaggerated giant witch hat. The reflectivity of different materials produces starkly contrasting textures under the lights.

Regarding the photographic lighting setup, several common light positions were used alternately during the actual shoot. For the set sitting on the gorgeous throne, intense cold blue lights combined with reflected light were used to give the satin and sequins on the outfit a translucent feel, while the metallic-textured backrest and the blue undertone formed a highly comfortable warm-cold balance. Another look featuring a large hat brim utilized purple and magenta stage spotlights to illuminate the character's face against a dark background, keeping the backdrop pure and uncluttered, thus concentrating the entire visual focus on the character's gaze and the exaggerated headwear. For the composition of some close-up shots, we experimented with a combination of tilted angles and a shallow depth of field; after heavily blurring the warm-toned light spots in the background, the red eyes and lip color on the character's face were highly emphasized.

Additionally, there are several dreamlike images with a light blue tone, presented through a high-key frame combined with slight underexposure. Paired with surrounding white flowers and light sheer fabrics, this creates a tranquil, almost distorted sense of ethereal beauty. The advantage of taking photos at an anime convention is having all sorts of unexpected natural backgrounds, but the downside is equally obvious—it's crowded and cluttered, meaning that post-processing background clean-up and environmental light-and-shadow preservation required an immense amount of work. Many detailed photos might not catch your attention when being shot, but when cropped out as close-up portraits, the effect is excellent—such as the profile of a character looking down in deep thought, or a close-up of crystal-clear eyes. Engaging in this kind of roleplay is not just about replicating things exactly as they are, but more about how to use methods suited for the lens to recreate that character's intrinsic temperament and personality. In this entire set, I prefer the effect where character traits smoothly blend with real-world portrait photography aesthetics. I hope everyone can see the heartfelt experiments and control over lighting and shadow details behind these looks through these convention photos.
