[Xishi Cosplay] Honor of Kings Poetic Jiangnan, Blue and White Chinese-Style Look

The blue and white palette of the Poetic Jiangnan outfit perfectly matches the gentle demeanor of a water town, so taking advantage of my great state, I completed this third phase of the Xishi photoshoot plan. To align with character settings, the hairstyle recreated black hair twintails paired with sky-blue hair ribbons, echoing the blue knot buttons on the dress visually.

Style-wise, this dress uses a modified Chinese-style cheongsam base, where the standing collar refines necklines and distinct front knot buttons impart traditional charm. The upper half features sky blue while the lower hem splices a blue skirt pattern with white waves and cloud motifs, edged with lace ruffles to soften traditional weight with anime playfulness. Outstanding fabric drape allows natural flow along body curves whether standing or sitting, looking sleek in profile. Sleeve cuffs feature delicate white lace trim that shows naturally when holding up a smartphone for photos.

For this shoot, I featured two distinct leg styling looks. In Photo 1, I wore white pantyhose paired with the blue skirt, drawing a clear layered contrast against the upper outfit. White stockings streamlined leg contours cleanly, and against a white plush rug, created a pure, cool atmosphere ideal for a cover photo. In Photo 2, I went barefoot, exposing ankle contours directly—a carefree state suited to the character's light, agile life by the water. Stepping barefoot on a white platform against a pure white background highlighted slender calf lines and graceful foot curves, delivering a natural, authentic presence.

Set layout pursued minimalism—a clean white wall and white platform without distracting elements, focusing total attention on costume details and body language. Shot in daylight with direct lighting, soft natural light illuminated the indoor space, rendering blue and white fabrics translucent and bright. Camera-raw tones were clean enough that post-processing required only subtle facial brightening and highlight tweaks, maintaining fresh texture without color distortion.

Regarding character interpretation, Xishi's default skin in Honor of Kings leans lively and playful, while Poetic Jiangnan feels like wearing everyday Chinese-style cosplay clothing, embodying neighboring maiden tranquility. Body language was kept light—sitting erect with a naturally straight back to show elegance, while Photo 2 features a hand gently tugging the skirt edge with the left foot slightly lifted, simulating playful wading by a stream. Though the phone covered my face, micro-adjustments in posture—relaxed hand grips and crossed leg angles—aimed to restore the delicate grace of a southern water town maiden.

Overall, the combination of white stockings with a full skirt versus barefoot ankle lightness each offered distinct charm. Retaining both details in comparison sets demonstrates varied styling possibilities for Poetic Jiangnan across scenes. The outcome preserved traditional Chinese garment subtlety while blending popular light anime aesthetic, making it a deeply satisfying shoot.
