This time I shot the campus style look for the Xishi Flash Project in Honor of Kings. Since the theme was set around campus life and a debut dancer, the poses couldn't just stay as awkward standing positions; I needed to express that gentle yet vibrant feeling the character conveys through body language.
For the first sequence of movements, I chose a rolling chair as a prop, resting my left foot lightly on the caster while extending my right hand naturally forward. This angle shifted my body's center of gravity toward the lower half, which not only elongated my leg lines, but also framed the ratio between the short school uniform jacket and the pleated skirt at the visually most flattering balance. The knee-high white socks, adorned with black bow knots, carried rich detail on their own, ensuring that the lower half wouldn't feel overly empty in the overall standing pose.
Following that were more lively single-leg balancing and salute poses. This kind of snapshot requires keeping the core subtly engaged before the shutter clicks; otherwise, an unstable center of gravity causes the pleated skirt's motion to look messy. Fortunately, the navy and light blue plaid skirt featured crisp, structured pleating that retained its sharp silhouette even during large movements. Mid-way through the shoot, I shifted through several hand placements, including clasping hands in front, resting one hand lightly on the waist, and placing a hand near the uniform collar. My personal favorite was the pose with hands gently tucked inward and upper body leaning slightly forward—this angle highlighted the cinched waist design of the cropped blazer while displaying the lower half's plaid layering with crisp clarity. Accented by the bow knots on the white long socks, it pushed the refreshing yet polished vibe of a \"Campus Dancer\" to its absolute peak.
The greatest advantage of a White studio portrait shoot is being completely free from outdoor lighting interference. The lighting setup this time intentionally combined soft high key lighting with key rim lights, eliminating overly harsh shadows and keeping the color contrast between the model and floor shadows impeccably clean.
