For this Chien Wu cosplay photoshoot, the overall style featured a modern Chinese-style cosplay design with modified traditional elements. The top was crafted from crisp, translucent blue fabric adorned with red cloud pattern prints and delicate white piping. The halter and off-the-shoulder cuts visually elongated the neckline, creating a taller and more poised silhouette. To complement the outfit's blend of gentle grace and sharp fierceness, I paired it with high-waisted black shorts and semi-transparent white flowing water sleeves. When walking or gesturing, the flowing sleeves fluttered with the breeze, creating a dynamic visual interplay between stillness and motion.

In terms of props and fine details, I selected a black folding fan as the primary accessory. The black ribs created a grounded contrast against the vibrant blue garment while providing natural poise for hand gestures. For the lower body styling, I specifically wore black Lace over-the-knee socks with delicate lace trim. The intricate lace texture softened the rigidity often associated with leather boots or plain black stockings, which, paired with black stiletto high heels, elegantly accentuated leg contours in front of the lens and enhanced overall refinement and layering. The pearl necklace at the neck served as a dainty yet radiant accent, brightening the collar area.

The shooting took place in a large indoor convention hall with densely clustered spherical white ceiling lights. Such harsh overhead lighting was challenging, as uncontrolled angles easily cast unflattering shadows on the face. To capture the seated shot on the metal high stool in Photo 2, the photographer carefully found a backlit angle, letting the lights behind create soft bokeh while using reflectors to fill in shadow details across my face and body. The crossed-leg posture, paired with a gentle flutter of the folding fan and slightly lowered gaze, imbued the still frame with calm, unhurried confidence.

For the standing pose in Photo 1, the emphasis was placed on accentuating the flowing elegance of the costume. I let the water sleeves naturally extend to both sides with my body slightly tilted, creating dynamic momentum as if about to turn or dance. The photographer captured the fluid motion of the hemline and sleeves in mid-air, which, paired with the circular bokeh lights in the blurred background, produced a dreamy aesthetic. The costume was thoughtfully designed—the tailoring highlighted the waistline while ensuring ease of movement, allowing me to navigate the crowded hall without feeling restricted.

Regarding makeup, to align with the Azur Lane character lore of Chien Wu, I opted for clean eye makeup with a subtle edge, using reddish eyeshadow to accentuate the outer corners alongside slender eyeliner to give my gaze sharp focus. The hairstyle featured classic black short hair with subtly layered tips for a crisp look, while the blue flower ornament on the side served as a finishing touch, maintaining character recognition even without an elaborate wig.

Every cosplay outing comes with unexpected variables—slippery convention floors demanding extra caution in stiletto heels, or leg fatigue from extended standing shoots. Yet the moment a flawless image appears on the camera screen, that immense sense of achievement instantly dissolves all exhaustion. The two posing schemes—one standing to showcase body proportions and presence, and one seated to convey poise and elegance—demonstrated the aesthetic beauty of this Chinese-style cosplay from distinct perspectives.

Every cosplay experience offers a fresh evaluation of the character and one's interpretive ability; costume, props, makeup, hair, and posing all require dedicated refinement. Noise and crowds at the expo can be distracting, but they also trained my ability to quickly slip into character amidst chaotic surroundings. I hope the texture captured in these Convention photos brings out the character's unique Chinese charm and helps me find greater confidence and growth in my creative works.
