[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] Touhou Project Moments of Rest Along the Way at the Convention

This is a Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay from the Foshan CPG08 convention. Taking advantage of a break, I took this set of photos on a red box by the glass curtain wall. To fit the character, I wore platform high heels and an intricate white-and-blue lace dress.

Preparing for this cosplay took quite some time beforehand. The pink wig was specifically trimmed, and hair pads were inserted underneath to give the head shape a better silhouette when wearing the headpiece. The outfit has many layers—the inner petticoat and the outer lace overdress are quite cumbersome to put on and take off. To ensure smooth movement on-site, I did multiple fitting trials at home in advance.

At the convention hall, this look drew plenty of head-turns. Because the venue was crowded, I specifically looked for a relatively quiet spot, which was by the glass curtain wall shown in the photos. The red box was a fire hydrant box or electrical enclosure; the yellow warning lines alongside it, paired with the green doujin signage, unexpectedly created a backdrop full of comic convention atmosphere.

During shooting, the photographer had me sit on top with my legs resting naturally down, which effectively showcased the leg lines and shoe details. The shoes adorned with large blue bows were specially coordinated; although the heels were quite high, I endured it for the aesthetic. In my hands were convention-exclusive sandwiches and sliced cake I bought. I was indeed a bit hungry at the time, and since this character naturally has a foodie trait, the whole scene felt very organic to shoot.

Returning to the outfit, the white-and-blue Lolita fashion dress uses a tremendous amount of lace with a voluminous skirt flare, which I adjusted myself to make the silhouette match the original design as closely as possible. Running around the convention carrying luggage and camera gear is genuinely exhausting, especially with such a wide skirt that easily brushed against passersby. However, presenting this look in front of the lens made all the prior effort feel well worth it.

The defining feature of this set of photos is natural authenticity. I didn't deliberately force complex poses; I just ate snacks with my legs gently together. The photos didn't undergo heavy post-processing filters, preserving the natural lighting and texture of the venue—reflections in the glass windows and figures inside faithfully captured a real corner of the convention that day.

Regarding makeup, I used light purple and pink eyeshadows to complement the pink hair, along with a natural coral-red lipstick. Blush was kept very light, reflecting the character's composed and serene aura.

There were quite a few fellow fans doing this character at the convention, but each person interprets the vibe differently. I focused on bringing out that everyday leisure feel, like sitting back and enjoying snacks.

You can also see people passing by on escalators in the background and bags placed around the area. These real on-site elements give the photos a stronger narrative feel. While the protagonist is the character herself, it also encapsulates my authentic experience at the convention.

If you ask what the most comfortable spot in the whole convention was, it was probably that red box I sat on—hard as it was, it offered a wonderful moment of rest.
