[Illya cosplay] Fate/Zero Convention Photos Sharing

Sharing convention photos of my Illya cosplay from New Furong Comic Con, shot by photographer Pulao411. The convention was packed that day, so in the photo area, we had to find pockets of space between various light stands and equipment. The first photo, where I'm lifting my skirt, is one of my personal favorites: with one leg raised backward and both hands pulling the hem outward, it tested my balance. Standing for so long in black leather shoes made my toes ache a bit, but the flare of the spread-out skirt looked wonderful, revealing the details of the white socks while visually elongating the legs. The second photo is a classic standing pose, hands clasped gently in front of my chest with the skirt falling naturally—looking quiet and well-behaved, creating a nice contrast with the previous lively shot.

I spent quite some time preparing this outfit for this Fate/Zero cosplay shoot: a purple gold-trimmed long-sleeve coat paired with a white lace-trimmed skirt, finished with black shoes and white socks. The gold star patterns on the cuffs and the pink-purple bow at the collar have many intricate details, taking time to arrange when dressing. For hair and makeup, the wig was long, straight, and blonde with layered styling at the ends, while the bangs were paired with red contact lenses and pink eyeshadow. The venue's lighting was quite chaotic with lots of stands and crowds around, but the direct key light nicely separated the subject from the background, and the blurred background equipment turned into atmospheric convention elements instead.

Communication with the photographer went smoothly. Illya has the vibe of a lively young girl with an intriguing contrast in personality, so we deliberately tried contrasting static and dynamic posing styles. The first pose had larger movements, requiring checks before shooting to ensure modesty, while the second looked much more demure. Wearing a white skirt can be restrictive for poses—sitting or bending isn't ideal—so keeping to standing and skirt-lifting poses worked best. Shooting at conventions is physically demanding; finding angles in a noisy environment is hard work. Big thanks to the photographer for patient guidance and helping block stray light, which led to these two satisfying shots. Seeing the raw photos, the overall color tone and expressions were captured accurately, and the clean finish of post-processing complemented the character's lively temperament. The pairing of white socks and black shoes harmonized beautifully with the character's blonde hair and red eyes, and snapshots under the convention's strong lights gave the subject a striking presence. Although there are varied aesthetics in the ACG community regarding such outfits, I personally love this clean yet detail-rich combination. Documenting my thoughts here serves as a nice wrap-up for this cosplay experience.
