The red skirt hem and the massive hat were the most demanding parts of this photoshoot. Because the material is structured and stiff, and the staff is both long and heavy, standing for long periods genuinely tested my core strength. The metallic clockwork and gear ornaments on the hat needed careful securing to prevent snagging against the silver wig. The black straps on the thighs were bound rather tightly; to present sharper lines in front of the lens, I had to be mindful of my posture with every step.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was a cool-toned cyan-blue, creating a sharp contrast against this wine-red patent leather costume. The semi-sheer gloves, the luminous blue crystals on the staff, and the water orb cradled in my hand in the first photo all displayed fantastic light transmission under the cool light. For makeup, the colors of the eyeshadow and lip makeup were deepened, complementing the porcelain-cool skin tone to create a style noticeably sharper and fiercer than usual.
The most intriguing part of this set was actually the Photography post-processing. While resting nearby, I watched my retoucher Asuka (@Asuka) edit the photos while browsing clips. I was wondering how long it would take, but in about an hour, the whole set was fully finished and ready. This level of efficiency is truly admirable, and the cool tone she graded was immensely captivating—not only preserving the texture of the garments, but also handling the lighting layers in the background beautifully.
During the shoot, constant care was needed so the ruffles of the long dress wouldn't catch on the staff and the wig wouldn't tangle with the hat brim. When shooting standing and stretching poses holding the staff, the massive spread of the skirt made post-processing potentially troublesome, but Asuka handled it flawlessly. In the final few close-up shots holding flowers, seeing how the white blossoms took on a cool tone under the cool blue light immediately brought out a sense of tranquil stillness. Although this outfit was hot and heavy to wear and the props tested my arm strength, faithfully recreating this character design and feeling her presence made for a deeply fulfilling cosplay endeavor. The entire process involved continuous fine-tuning of outfit details and working with the photographer to find the best angles—physically exhausting, but fortunately resulting in an exceptionally sharp and cold aesthetic.
