[Yanqing Cosplay] A Xianxia Journey in Hengdian: Roaming Honkai: Star Rail with March 7th

This time I went to Hengdian to cosplay the blonde boy I've always loved. Although I don't usually do male characters that often, every time I change into an ancient costume and put on a blonde wig, that sharp aura of a young swordsman emerges naturally. This blue and white outfit has tons of details; the metal flying feathers on the shoulder ornaments, the pendants at the waist, and the black bracers on the arms, combined with white socks and boots, make the entire coordination look exceptionally layered in the ancient style photography location.

When shooting this set of photos, we were mainly in a Chinese-style courtyard and an indoor study room in Hengdian, and the photographer utilized light and shadow beautifully. In the outdoor scenes, sunlight hit the metal accessories and the wig, creating a wonderful sheen. The indoor set, showing the image of reading a blue-covered ancient book while sitting on a wooden chair, perfectly matched that temperament of being accomplished in both cultural and martial arts. Paired with a pink flower branch prop on the blonde hair, or the pose holding a long sword, it was both agile and imbued with a restrained martial arts world vibe.

I am especially happy that I did a dual interaction with my good partner, little March @喜之郎大王. We deliberately designed the physical contact feel of crossing swords in image 3, as well as the defensive stance of holding the sword horizontally across the chest in image 2; the frames of the two of us sharing the screen are highly narrative. The long-distance group shots on the corridors and pavilion bridges also perfectly fit that fictional ancient-style Xianxia tone in Honkai: Star Rail.

In fact, when cosplaying this type of male character, both makeup and body posture require special attention. Compared to the gorgeous and gentle presentation of female characters, male characters demand more composure in expressions and sharp efficiency in physical movements. To match the swordsman positioning, I specially practiced a few sword-drawing and backward-glance movements before the shoot, so that when facing the camera, the expressions and gestures wouldn't look forced but would naturally bring out the character's own pride.

The real-life architecture in Hengdian gave this set of photos a huge boost. The mahogany furniture, celadon porcelain vases, bluestone slab floors, and even the pink flower branches that occasionally entered the frame allow one to instantly step into the world where the character resides. The joyful atmosphere of shooting together with a friend is also preserved as part of my cosplay daily life. Although it was my first time coming here for ancient style photography, the overall experience was fantastic. For players who love characters with Chinese-style elements and a free-spirited feel, being able to replicate the character on-site in such a scene is truly an immersive enjoyment. I look forward to having more opportunities for outdoor location shoots like this next time.
