Putting on this modified black Qipao with white plush edges and blue flower accents, along with the iconic red tassels and silver hair accessories, the aura of Gate Master Misaki naturally flows out the moment I wear it. For this shoot, we chose an indoor set filled with classic Oriental charm, using carved wooden window frames as the background, supplemented by several warm yellow floor lanterns, creating a strong contrast of warm and cold tones with the blue-tinted cool light filtering in from outside the door, building a serene, hazy, and highly mysterious atmosphere. We also put a lot of thought into the props; the scattered scrolls, exquisite white porcelain sake bottles, and those blooming white artificial flowers in the background all added a sense of storytelling to the scene.

To better recreate the Gate Master's lazy yet fully-in-control posture, I intentionally slowed down the rhythm of my movements. Whether casually propping myself up while holding a slender pipe or half-leaning on a plush cushion to reveal the layers of the shawl, I hoped to convey her elegant, composed, and deep personality traits through my eyes and subtle body language. Targeted adjustments were also made to the makeup, deepening the eyeshadow blending and lip color contrast to ensure that even in low-light environments, the gaze remains the visual centerpiece of the frame.

The details of this outfit are highly interesting: the cut-out design of the upper body and large areas of white fluff, combined with black stockings and white plush edges at the ankles, cleverly blend modern sexiness with traditional Chinese style Qipao elements. Especially that plush shawl—while it provides great fluffiness, it heavily tests line control during shooting, as it can easily look bulky with the slightest carelessness. Therefore, we repeatedly adjusted the placement of my arms to capture the most natural transition between the plushness and the Qipao's tailoring. I also meticulously styled the wig to make the bun look sleeker, which, combined with two long strands of blue hair, enhanced the overall dynamic feel.

The cooperation between the photography team and me during the shoot was also critical. We spent quite a bit of time adjusting the camera angles to both account for the light and shadow piercing through the window frames and avoid blocking the glow of the lanterns. We also used some lighting techniques to dim the cluttered background, highlighting the texture of the main subject. Shooting this set of photos gave me a deeper understanding of Misaki. Behind her composure and calmness, there is actually a kind of piercing power. Through this styling and set, I tried my best to interpret this feeling, hoping to fully convey the atmosphere of these images. Overall, I feel the styling choices for this shoot fit the character's traits perfectly. Combining the actual drape of the clothing and the fluffiness of the plush in reality, we achieved a reasonable visual balance. Through this work, I want everyone to see the results of my careful contemplation of Misaki's character from Blue Archive.
