[Consort Yu cosplay] Feeling the Warmth and Cool Elegance of Hinako Akuta on the Journey of Fate/Grand Order - Image 2

Shooting this Consort Yu look happened during the peak of midsummer heat. Although the shoot took place in an air-conditioned room, to completely restore the design of this black, red-trimmed costume with a high slit, as well as the white plush neckline details on the chest and shoulders, I wore this highly restrictive outfit under the baking heat of intense spotlights. After several consecutive sets of poses, I truly experienced what it felt like to almost get heatstroke.

Actually, while playing FGO, I have always really liked the character Hinako Akuta; her cool exterior masking a heart full of stories truly touched me. For this Consort Yu cosplay, a lot of energy went into the preparation of costumes, makeup, and props early on. The gradient double blades provided by the prop team are incredibly handsome. The gradient red-and-yellow color scheme is full of sharpness, and holding them in hand feels heavy and full of texture. Paired with that paper umbrella painted with crane patterns, the overall red and black color scheme plus the Eastern Japanese-style photography atmosphere immediately emerged. The photographer intentionally cast a perfect red-filtered background light, which, combined with the wooden lattice behind me and the pink-and-white peony decorations on both sides, created a mysterious yet slightly murderous atmosphere that perfectly clicked with the character's setting.

In terms of posing, I first tried standing, doing my best to support the expression in my eyes. Paired with holding the swords in both hands and gripping the umbrella, I hoped to showcase a sharp and dashing side. Later, I switched to a sitting pose, leaning on the carpet while looking straight at the camera with the twin swords crossed in front of me, which brought out a bit of a lazy yet poised-for-action coolness. This costume because it has many delicate red pipings and a waist-cinching bow, it heavily tests both the tailor's craft and places high requirements on photographic lighting and the model's display.

Although I did get a bit dizzy from the heat toward the end of the shoot, seeing the brilliant light and shadow effects along with the costume details in the raw photos out in the camera instantly made me feel that sweating for this passion was entirely worth it. As a recreation attempt dedicated to the FGO IP, I hope to preserve Consort Yu's cool elegance and resilience, sharing an authentic Anime cosplay record with everyone.
