[Mari Iochi cosplay] Blue Archive Gymnastics Uniform Big Orange Cat's Gymnasium Daily Life - Image 1

Today's look is Mari Iochi's gymnastics uniform. For the wig, I selected a bright blonde with warm orange undertones, paired with fluffy cat ears and that striking yellow halo overhead, creating a vibrant visual impression right from the start. I tested the makeup several times before shooting, intentionally deepening the warm orange blend around the eyes and pairing it with bright cyan contact lenses to capture that fresh, spirited charm distinctive of 2D characters. Since this is an athletic concept, the makeup emphasized a lightweight, breathable base alongside the eye styling, which appeared delightfully natural under the studio's soft lighting.

Regarding the wardrobe, this white T-shirt features a relaxed silhouette with a dark insignia printed on the chest, finished with navy trim along the collar and cuffs. To complement the sporty theme, the lower half is styled with navy athletic shorts bearing white-and-yellow side stripes. Slipping into these white knee-high Stockings noticeably elongated the leg lines visually, giving the overall proportions a much sleeker look. The yellow lanyard around the neck and the blue credential badge at the chest were intentional small details I added myself—they weren't originally part of the prop set, but I felt they made me look much more like someone handling logistics and record-keeping in a gym, with these layered accents helping flesh out the character's persona.

The shooting location was an indoor gym with wooden flooring, framed by white sheer curtains in the background where soft backlighting filtered through gently. The props crew prepared a wooden vaulting box marked with numbers 1, 2, and 3. When sitting on top, I shifted my weight back while keeping my torso upright, ensuring a natural leg posture while highlighting the soft texture of the white stockings under the light. Holding a water bottle kept my hands engaged while casually obscuring part of the badge for an effortless, candid touch. The black metal ball rack and multicolored volleyballs nearby also formed an organic backdrop, creating an unexpectedly photogenic color palette.

While preparing this shoot, I spent a lot of time pondering how to translate that everyday warmth of the 'big orange cat' beloved by Sensei into reality. A Gymnastics uniform is inherently grounded in daily life; finding the balance between 2D aesthetics and reality hinges on mastering posture and gaze. During candid captures, I relaxed my shoulders, tilted my head slightly toward the lens with a gentle smile, evoking the feeling of taking a breather right after running laps. The overall palette remains bright and crisp, with post-processing kept to basic exposure balancing and uniform grading without excessive skin-smoothing, preserving natural fabric textures and skin tones. From wardrobe fittings to lighting adjustments, I coordinated every detail closely with the team to convey this fresh, spirited vibe. The shoot flowed effortlessly, with the volleyballs and vaulting box on set helping me settle into character in no time.
