[Shiranui cosplay] Onmyoji Flowing Sand and Melodic Dunes, an Exotic Goddess in Desert Ruins - Image 2

This time, for Shiranui's "Flowing Sand and Melodic Dunes" skin, I made a special trip to the great desert. Actually, I posted related content before, but that time it was actually virtual (btd), while this time I was solidly standing between the yellow sands and ancient ruins. I am extremely confident in the aesthetic choice of location this time. Shiranui's skin itself carries a strong exotic flair with many ancient Egyptian elements, such as lotus patterns, the golden Usekh collar, and that iconic blue-and-gold crown. To recreate this millennium-spanning mystery, the pyramids and severely weathered giant stone pillars served as an exceptional background.

The wind and sand on the day of the shoot were quite strong, which posed a considerable challenge for managing the wig. The pink-and-white gradient wig not only needed to be smooth, but also had to present a controlled, flowing lightness in the wind. In the standing pose of the first picture, the right hand lightly cradles a butterfly while the left hand stretches backward, mainly to showcase the sheer, translucent texture of the sleeves. The green lotus pattern on the skirt hem pops out vividly against the warm tones of the desert, serving as a visual focal point of this styling. In choosing the costume fabrics, to reflect the desert's lightness, the inner layer used a fabric with a certain drape, while the outer layer used semi-sheer light gauze, paired with the heavy golden accessories on the waist binder, giving it visual weight without appearing bulky.

The second picture was shot at the edge of the stone wall's shadow. Utilizing strong side-backlight, the sunlight struck the legs, and the boundary line between light and shadow naturally outlined the character's silhouette. Sitting on the stone steps with legs naturally crossed, this posture wonderfully displays the skirt's drape and leg lines. Coupled with the low-angle upward shot, it makes the stone pillars behind appear more magnificent while making the figure look more petite and narrative-driven. The blue crown on the head reflected light gorgeously under the intense sunlight, and the texture of the gold ornaments was fully brought out. In terms of makeup, teacher Zuilan specially deepened the red tones in the eye area to make the gaze better fit Shiranui's slightly enchanting yet aloof temperament. To ensure the makeup wouldn't melt in the high heat, we were constantly doing touch-ups.

In actual shooting, body language needs to be well controlled. Although Shiranui is a dancer, this skin leans more toward a quiet divinity. Therefore, in the first picture we pursued lightness and expansiveness, while the second picture focused on quiet contemplation. The lighting changes rapidly in the desert, and teacher Luoluo spent a lot of effort capturing the fusion of light spots and butterfly special effects. To wait for a perfect lighting angle, we repeatedly adjusted positions under the scorching sun. Post-processing by Zhizhi also handled the sand dust graininess and light spots meticulously, retaining skin texture without excessive smoothing, giving the image a more realistic breathing feel.

The glowing butterflies in the props are the result of combining post-production and on-site lighting effects. To prevent the frame from looking too fake, we added some fine, shimmering light dust into the ambient light. Costume details, such as the gem inlays and golden tassels at the waist, tend to overexpose under strong light, so camera positioning and light ratio adjustments were crucial. The edges of the collar and armbands also received some distressed aging treatments to increase integration into the environment. Overall, although this outdoor shoot involved eating plenty of sand and getting sand into the wig, the final image results completely achieved the exotic retro feel I expected. This sensation of combining a game character with real historical ruins is truly marvelous.
