When shooting this Shiranui cosplay, the most effort went into recreating that atmosphere of "fire lighting up the entire sky." The styling of the white hair required repeated adjustments to the flow of the strands. The cinnabar mark on the forehead and the red eye makeup at the corners of the eyes were also specially done with the help of a makeup artist, striving to capture that enchanting yet cool temperament from the original game.
As for the costume, the translucent gauze material of the outer layer is very exquisite; its light-transmitting quality, combined with the red ribbons and plaid obi belt, presents a clearly layered texture under the lights. In terms of props, the red oil-paper umbrella and lanterns are the finishing touches, especially that wooden square lamp; the warm light casting on my face makes my skin tone look more translucent. The set design this time chose Japanese shoji doors and wisteria flowers, paired with a black background, highlighting the bright colors within the dark tones to make the subject stand out.
During the shoot, it actually took a lot of time to find the right angles. Because the skirt hem is very large, striking a naturally extended sitting or kneeling pose was quite a test of body flexibility. The lighting technician used two continuous light sources with different color temperatures—one warm and one cool—to create a cool-warm contrast so that the final photos wouldn't look too flat. In post-processing, the highlights were controlled so that the white wig wouldn't be overexposed, preserving the details of individual hair strands.
As a coser, whenever I portray this kind of classical Japanese character for an Ancient style photography session, I pay extra attention to my posture: straightening my back, slightly tucking my chin, and keeping a touch of aloofness in my gaze. This set of photos actually incorporates my own understanding of the character's personality; she is not just a breathtakingly beautiful dancer on stage, but more like a white fox demon carrying a blaze of fire capable of burning through the darkness.
