This Hana photoshoot was specially prepared to celebrate the Onmyoji 10th Anniversary. As the very first SSR healer I ever summoned during my early days playing the game, Hana holds an exceptionally cherished place in my heart; aligning with the 10th anniversary, the preparations for this session were carried out with dedicated care.
For the wardrobe, I chose this modified kimono: the white-and-purple jacquard weave carries a remarkably rich texture, beautifully layered over a crimson inner lining and neck collar to create striking visual depth. To match the character's intrinsic disposition, I specifically coordinated White stockings. Posing demanded mindful body language, as this styling accentuates her delicate femininity and serene, aloof grace. In terms of props, expansive cherry blossom branches, a traditional Japanese paper umbrella, and a custom handmade long scroll—even down to the fallen petals scattered across the floor—were arranged piece by piece within the studio to recreate the evocative painterly atmosphere of the original art.
Shooting took place in an indoor studio setup. Translucent shoji screens and warm floor lamps established an intimate, atmospheric setting. The photographer used copious foreground blur, placing sakura petals before the lens to evoke the sensation of drifting through a blossom-filled garden. Pose design referenced the effortless poise of the original character art—reclining gently, delicately pinching blossoms, or gazing into the middle distance. Many tight close-ups required holding my breath, especially when framing leg contours and conveying subtle emotional depth through the eyes, requiring disciplined muscular control. Shooting stretched continuously from morning to afternoon, fine-tuning lighting intensities through countless tests before finalizing the look.
This series heavily tested the photographer's compositional finesse, especially across several key frames that balanced an ornate, detailed environment with clean subject lines. I also reviewed extensive character lore to capture her quiet yet profoundly healing aura through delicate gazes and hand placements. While not an aggressive visual effects shoot, every ounce of care is palpable in the final frames. Stepping back into the courtyard felt magical; photography is an exquisite medium for freezing memories in time.
