[Yin Ziping cosplay] NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Chalcedony & Icy Heart, Photo Journal from the Chinese Gardens of Guangzhou Cultural Center

This set of photos from the Chinese gardens at the Guangzhou Cultural Center marks the first outdoor shoot for Yin Ziping's "Chalcedony & Icy Heart" look. The atmosphere of the ancient architecture on-site perfectly matches the character's own cool elegance. This collaboration was very spontaneous; I happened to connect with photographer @MantouJun and we just came right over. The framing mainly focused on several representative Chinese garden elements within the cultural center: the waterside stone platform by the moon gate and the pavilion with black tiles and wooden pillars. The location at the moon gate was very particular. The natural circular framing composition allowed the person and the background's multi-eaved roofs and gray walls to blend exceptionally naturally. The shot in the pavilion utilized the extended blue ribbons, coordinated with the action of holding the longsword vertically, to enhance the depth of the frame. Although there are still many regrets regarding the costume, makeup, and props—such as being in too much of a rush, which prevented the wig from being styled to its smoothest state, not having enough time to put on all the jewelry accessories, and the texture of the sword still having a gap compared to the high-precision model in the game—the photographer was excellent at snapshots. The dappled light and shadow formed by the afternoon sun filtering through the leaves onto the stone slabs and water surface, combined with the white-and-blue color scheme of the outfit itself, maxed out the sense of atmosphere. When doing Anime-style photography for characters with traditional Chinese elements, the extension of movements greatly affects the final image results. This attempt was a great practical exercise for me personally on how to extend poses using a longsword and ribbons in a small space, as well as how to control facial shadows under harsh light. Next time I shoot this Chalcedony & Icy Heart look, I will definitely polish the makeup, hair, and prop details even better, striving to unleash the full charm of this skin in my cosplay.
