[Yin Ziping cosplay] White Studio Perspective of NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Chalcedony ice core

This shoot took place in a pure white studio, choosing the Chalcedony ice core skin of Yin Ziping from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT. Because the character naturally possesses a cool and serene healer's disposition, shooting against a pure white background set high demands on rendering costume details—a stark white setup easily blows out highlights and can make shadows look muddy.

The photographer maintained steady control over exposure and contrast, using several extra diffuser panels during lighting setup to illuminate skin translucency while leveraging a wide aperture to separate the subject from the background. The design of this outfit is quite intricate: the waist features extensive cutout styling outlined with black borders, while the lower body is adorned with white ruffles and a semi-sheer tulle skirt. Paired with white over-the-knee socks and stiletto high heels, the visual height and body lines appeared much more cohesive.

Two props were prepared for the shoot: a gorgeous longsword adorned with light cyan gems, and a folding fan crafted from lace and sheer tulle. The sword was on the heavier side, leaving my wrist slightly sore after holding it for a while; however, striking sharp, commanding poses required exerting wrist tension while maintaining a composed facial expression, making the balance between the two quite challenging. The fan served as a great tool for conveying elegance, allowing subtle shifts in gaze to evoke an entirely different aura in front of the lens.

While White background photography might look straightforward, leg positioning and center-of-gravity control during actual shooting were far more exacting than imagined. For full-body compositions like these, utilizing a black folding studio ladder as a support point combined with extended leg lines best showcased the costume proportions and physique. We experimented with numerous angles during shooting, using step-ups, side sits, and crossed legs to break the monotony of static frames.

Preparing this character demanded considerable effort: the fabric is relatively delicate and required caution against snagging during wear, while the white floral headpiece and black lace tassels needed meticulous grooming. Working alongside the photographer's guidance, I adjusted posture and expressions numerous times, and fortunately, the final result was deeply satisfying. Post-processing retained the clean, translucent quality of the raw shots without exaggerated reshaping, focusing mainly on minor skin touch-ups and smooth light-shadow transitions. Bringing a beloved character skin to life and immersing oneself in their persona is the true joy of cosplay.
