[The Shorekeeper Cosplay] Blue Sea of Stars: A Quiet Moment Frozen in Light and Shadow

When putting on this outfit of The Shorekeeper, the most direct feeling was lightness and an ethereal grace.

Let's talk about the overall texture of the costume first. The material selection for this Cosplay costume is truly ingenious. The white top part is made of textured chiffon fabric, with natural ruffled lettuce edges at the neckline and cuffs, fitting closely to the body frame when worn. The cutout design at the waist and abdomen is one of the visual focal points of the entire look, which not only highlights the waistline but also allows me to clearly grasp the curves of my body when posing. The gradient skirt transitions very naturally, fading from pure white to light blue. The outer layer of the skirt features a deep cosmos blue dotted with fine sparkles, producing a shimmering wave effect under natural light that completely sheds the heavy, stiff feel of traditional Cosplay costumes.

The accompanying fine silver chains are wrapped around the arms. This delicate strap jewelry actually has high requirements for camera angles, as a slight turn of the arm creates different refractions in light and shadow. For this shoot, I also made many adjustments to the wig. This light blue wig has plenty of hair volume; beyond basic styling, it needed to maintain fullness at the crown when wearing the hood without being crushed. I trimmed the bangs myself to make them look lighter and more breathable. Combined with light-colored contact lenses and eye makeup—slightly extending and deepening only at the outer corners of the eyes—I tried using cool tones to shape the character's quiet yet slightly mysterious temperament.

The location chosen for this cosplay photography shoot was a space with stained glass windows, and photographer WiFi is truly experienced in using light. He didn't intentionally add strong front lighting, but instead used natural light from the side window—a side-front light. This light striking the blue wig and blue gradient skirt not only preserved the character's cool-toned atmosphere but also made my facial contours appear soft and natural. When posing for Photo 1, I paid close attention to the distribution of my body's center of gravity. Sitting on the light purple base cloth on the floor, my right hand slightly raised near my neck was actually a close-up detail to show off the ruffle cuffs and delicate arm chain.

During the shooting process, to show the lively side of the character, we tried the motion of holding a blue butterfly prop in the mouth in Photo 2. This movement actually tested facial expression management quite a bit—holding the butterfly while preventing expressions from looking stiff. I also tried to fathom that quiet yet playful feel the character might show, so the brightness of the eye makeup coordinated well with the downward gaze. Another highlight of this blue-themed outfit is the delicate white line decoration on the thigh. Although this ornament looks simple, it needs to be placed accurately when worn so it won't shift, and paired with strappy high-heeled sandals, it visually extends the leg line beautifully.

Putting together the entire look—from wig styling, wearing transparent glasses, to adjusting the angle of arm chains—every detail underwent repeated fine-tuning. Although the entire shooting process was not short, and I had to constantly monitor the flatness of the costume to prevent fabric at the waist cutouts from curling, I was very happy to see the final product presenting a blue and white tone with an aesthetic atmosphere. I'm truly grateful to the photographer for his guidance in capturing this hazy, cool feel indoors, catching the character's traits just right. As a Cosplayer who has deep feelings for the work and character, being able to concretely present the character's quiet yet powerful essence is a deeply fulfilling achievement, and that is my greatest satisfaction with this Cosplay shoot.
