[Ukinami Yuzuha Cosplay] Day One of Zenless Zone Zero Offline Event: Self-Taught Makeup Challenge Completed

Heading to the Hanggang venue for the Zenless Zone Zero offline event, I put on the full Ukinami Yuzuha Cosplay look and instantly got into character. This photo was taken in the morning right after settling down in the break area of the Anime convention venue; the lighting was just right, capturing a rare complete look of myself. Previously, I felt my makeup lacked cleanliness, the eyeshadow blending wasn't natural enough, and the wig edge seams were rough, but this time I finally got the hang of it. Using green colored contacts as the eye base color combined with dark brown and black eyeliner to extend the eye shape, I adjusted the eyeliner thickness a few times before achieving spirited eyes that captured the character's signature blend of laziness and vitality. For the red lips, I chose a velvet texture that avoids greasy shine over a light lip balm base, making facial features look more dimensional on camera. Highlights were applied just right so that facial color wouldn't be completely overwhelmed by the vibrant red wig, resulting in a harmonious and natural balance.

For the wig, I selected a straight long red wig with a matte texture. Today's key highlights were actually the oversized metallic circular ear ornaments on both sides and the attached white beaded chains. Securing the headset unit to the top of the head required serious bobby pin tricks; I used two layers of U-pins and straight clips cross-fixed to secure the metal pieces tightly against the crown so they wouldn't look loose. The length and drape of the beaded chain needed natural curves rather than stiff lines to reflect the character's agility. I added anti-tangle treatments on the physical props so that while walking around the venue, the bead chains wouldn't get stuck in the bangs or cast strange shadow lines during photography. As for the costume, the black-and-red trim on the sailor collar and the large white bow knot are the soul. The tied bow knot must remain crisp—neither tied too tightly nor loosely—otherwise the visual center of gravity on the front of the body collapses. I intentionally added a light pink knitted cardigan over it; besides softening colors on camera, it blocked air-conditioned drafts indoors, preventing cold spells when wearing cosplay outfits and wigs for extended hours across temperature differences. The pairing of red and pink along with the black sailor collar built a rich color layering.

Learning how to complete full feminine makeup by myself this year is a major breakthrough for my Casual cosplay routine. I used to rely entirely on makeup artists, which left me passive whenever bookings were unavailable or schedules conflicted. Handling it myself allows total control over the overall style and precise adjustments tailored to my face. While details still have room for improvement—such as achieving a sheerer gradient transition for the red blush under the eyes—tidying up loose hair along the wig edge, evening out base makeup, and finishing the eyes to reveal the character's mark in the mirror gave me immense accomplishment through this self-taught makeup milestone. Shooting inside the Hanggang venue offered better lighting than conventional convention tents; natural light filtering through French windows proved ideal for capturing makeup texture and accessory luster. Due to tight scheduling, I didn't bring complex DSLR gear, relying mainly on a mobile phone to capture natural light moments for a relaxed, spontaneous daily feel rather than rigid poses. The red hair against cold white wall backgrounds created striking impact, making green eyes the focal point and ensuring the subject stood out clearly. I plan to frequent this venue over the coming days to experience offline player enthusiasm; Zenless Zone Zero offline gatherings always foster warm camaraderie as people share game insights and character interpretations.

Regarding cosplay, my current understanding is that it shouldn't rely solely on stacking garments; alignment between makeup, facial expression, and character personality is what truly brings a character to life. The key to feminine makeup lies in making transitions along the jawline and eyeshadow look natural; eyeliner direction should follow eye shape rather than blindly thickening lines, which dirty the makeup look. Today's Ukinami Yuzuha Cosplay look highlights a light, lively vibe, with small details like the bow tie, arm sleeves, and iconic hair ornament subtly signaling her personality traits, so I aimed for casual spontaneity during shooting. I feel this Hanggang photo outcome hit a solid passing mark—it reflects a genuine self rather than heavily retouched web photos, with realistic textures in makeup and wig. Walking around the Anime convention venue and observing uniquely styled cosplayers shining in their respective domains was wonderful. While my main task today was completing the Ukinami Yuzuha Cosplay look, weaving through crowds allowed me to fully enjoy the communicative convention atmosphere, where unspoken mutual understanding between fans is truly precious. Seizing a weekend opportunity to relax and experience offline events serves as a great recharge. Whether securing headpieces or carrying touch-up powder and blotting paper, it's all part of the casual cosplay routine. Sitting down to organize photos, sip water, and adjust the tie position feels like the perfect casual cosplay day. Participating in the Zenless Zone Zero Hanggang event fills me with excitement for upcoming plans. Continuing to bring this red-haired character alive through my lens, crafting her image with my own hands, is an enjoyable experience and a practical test of my hands-on skills.
