Diving straight into the official photoshoot of this Yone gender-bend cosplay. The theme of this shoot was very clear: translating the temperament of that classic League of Legends champion into a sharp, heroic style from a feminine perspective. Combined with the high-key lighting of the white studio, it beautifully accentuated the subject's bodily lines and garment textures—especially the striking four-color contrast of red, white, blue, and black, which popped vividly against the clean background.
Speaking of the outfit's completion, the first element is the mask. For a female cosplayer aiming to project the sharp intensity of a male character, the mask's sculpting is the soul of the entire character. This red rigid mask was crafted with great three-dimensionality; the horn design on the edges and the cutouts perfectly revealed the contours of my eyes and mouth, preserving the original design's fierce, oppressive presence without appearing overly bulky. To complement the mask's texture, the makeup was slightly softened, maintaining the character's icy demeanor while harmonizing with feminine facial features.
The upper-body attire is another major highlight. The white one-shoulder bandeau top stays faithful to the character design while accentuating the waistline, giving off a clean and crisp impression. Crucially, the white bandages wrapped around the arms and calves greatly enriched the visual layering. The white bandages echoed the white top while creating a strong contrast with the dark blue skirt; within the white studio environment, the lighting transitions across all textures were rendered with crystal clarity.
The long blue skirt with red and white stripes on the lower body was the centerpiece of this look. The high-slit design allowed the leg lines to peek through during movement and posing, combining the dignified elegance of traditional Japanese-style elements with the practical functionality of a combat character. The thick red cord knot at the waist and the black tassel-like clusters on the side added weight and three-dimensionality to the waistline. Whether squatting or standing, the drape of the skirt fell beautifully without feeling bulky.
The dual-blade props were the most crucial accessories of this styling. The black long scabbards featured golden wave patterns, and the anti-slip wrapping on the hilts was crafted with great care. The biggest challenge when shooting a dual-wielding character is balancing the props' weight—especially when executing dynamic poses like raising a blade high with one hand or slashing, the arm engagement must be precise; otherwise, the pose looks limp. Fortunately, during the actual shoot, by adjusting hand placement and shifting my center of gravity, we converted the physical weight of the dual blades into pure combat presence.
The studio setups for this shoot were mainly divided into two styles: white studio normal lighting and white studio full red lighting. Shooting under solid red light heavily tested emotional depth and physical tension; that vast red backdrop paired with the long swords effortlessly fostered a lethal, resolute atmosphere, perfect for expressing the character's past solitude and destiny-burdened solemnity. Meanwhile, normal white studio lighting fully displayed the authentic textures of the costume. I personally tend to favor white studio shoots because they test the completion of styling details the most—if props, stitching, wigs, or bandage wraps are flawed, they are laid bare under white studio lights.
In reimagining a male character through a gender-bend approach, I constantly pondered how to weave feminine traits into Combat style cosplay. Building upon the original design's ruggedness, I chose to interpret him with crisp posture and decisive movements, avoiding overly cutesy poses to preserve a sense of strength and handsomeness. These White studio client photos basically achieved that desired effect. The entire shoot went smoothly; special thanks to the photographer's mastery of light and shadow, which endowed this League of Legends Combat style cosplay work with such wonderful texture.
