This Goldfish Kaedehime Ahri cosplay look was basically crafted bit by bit by myself from blueprints to the physical piece. The Spirit Blossom skin series inherently carries an oriental fantasy aesthetic, and the Goldfish Kaedehime color palette adds many soft water ripple and gradient elements on top of the red, black, and gold foundation.

For the base fabric of the costume, I chose a jacquard fabric with subtle hidden patterns, ensuring it wouldn't look too flat under the lens. The red fabric and golden bells on the chest were crafted into three-dimensional pleats; to conform to the body shape, the positions of the straps and golden accessories were adjusted repeatedly. The most prominent red ropes on my body, paired with golden bells, were actually shaped knot-by-knot using a thicker braided cord; they needed to have a strong stylistic sense when tied around the thighs and wrists while ensuring they wouldn't snap or come loose during movements.

The flowing large tails and sleeves in the back were made using translucent organza as a base, then hand-painted with acrylic and fabric paints to create a gold-red-blue gradient. To capture that glowing, translucent feel, a dedicated warm rim light was set up behind me. The handheld lantern and goldfish props were also handcrafted; the goldfish props were stuffed with small LED light strips, yielding an exceptional effect during dark-field shooting.

Makeup focused heavily on the eyes. Red eyeshadow was extensively blended, golden thin lines were traced at the outer corners of the eyes, paired with greenish-cyan contact lenses, and red whisker markings were painted on both sides of the cheeks to capture Ahri's unique fox-spirit vibe. The wig bangs were trimmed, and the black-and-red intertwined hair strands paired with plush animal ears required long adjustments to the overall head proportion to make the face look as small as possible.

The shooting location was chosen as a corridor featuring stone bricks and wooden structures, paired with lotus pond props. The cut of this costume is relatively short, so constant attention to wardrobe safety and maintaining posture was required during the photo shoot. For the shots lying sideways on the stone steps, both the legs and abdomen had to be tightly tensed to present flattering lines, holding the pose for a long time to coordinate with the lighting.

The greatest joy of making a Homemade cosplay costume yourself lies in being able to adjust the sizing pattern according to your own body shape—such as raising the waistline slightly or altering the skirt hem's arc to better showcase the legs. Although hand-sewing gold threads and dealing with straps is quite torturous, the final look when worn made me deeply satisfied. Moving forward, I will continue to optimize the way props are worn to make outdoor shooting mobility easier next time.
